Easily the worst professor I have ever had. Don't bother to buy the text, because he doesn't use it. Also, don't dare to disagree with his opinions or he will mark you down. Very boring and I would not recommend him. Yes, I did well in the class, but could not understand why everyone thought he was so great.

Great professor! While lectures aren't for me, Brodkin had a lot of really interesting stories and it changed my perspective on India. Even though I wasn't the best student in the class, I certainly learned a lot.

brodkin is brilliant and very engaging. he fills his lessons with anecdotes about all the time he spent in india, which makes the more recent history particularly enjoyable to learn. be prepared to take a LOT of notes and dont look for any handouts.
