I had this man for two semesters. Greatest class I have taken at Fairfield BY FAR!!! I think he has retired now but this was the best class. He tells you the first day that this class will be your favorite class and your hardest class and he was right on both. Tests were almost impossible but he is well worth it. Use excels to boost your grade

I took deak for ec11 and rolled over with him for ec12 because I loved his class. it was always interesting and he uses great examples. if you need help all you do is ask and hes more than happy to help you. even though his tests can be hard, theres excels that boost your grade and if he likes you he'll no doubt bring up your grade. take him!

Arguably the worst professor at Fairfield University. Not only is he a pompous expletive, he also feels quite smart ? until anyone asks him a question. Once you ask him a question be prepared to go into his little black book as an insubordinate student who questions authority. This guy is nightmare of a joke. Ruined my 4.0 GPA.

Very good professor. He is excellent at teaching and is very clear in what he teaches. You must go to class and take good notes or else the class will be nearly impossible. The tests are extremely difficult. Not an easy class by any means but he does a good job at teaching the material and you actually get something out of the class.

Dr. Deak is the best Proffesor I've had thus far in Fairfield. The class is challenging, but Dr.Deak is very clear and helpful in all his lectures. Try not to miss any classes because you will feel lost when you come back. Oh, be prepared to answer questions because he calls on everyone in the class... Def must take!

Fantastic educator. There is no way that you won't gain a world of knowledge from his class. Simply by showing up, a student will learn a lot about economics through osmosis. If you want the A, however, you're going to have to put in a ton of work. Take him. It's worth it. Also, when he gets excited, his voice sounds like Lewis Black.

this is a very good class, but BE PREPARED to do every single reading, or you will probably not get above a C+. He is a very very good and respected professor, and what you put into this class is what you get out of it. i would take it if you are ready to work but want to learn.

SO HARD. A great teacher but almost not worth taking just because he is so hard. Lets you make up points on this excel stuff but his tests and quizes are the hardest test and quizes I have ever taken in college or in high school. Great guy though.

Dr. Deak is the best teacher I have ever had (at three universities, two countries). Took his class twice in a year (Antitrust&Regulation + Competition&Competitiveness) back in 1997/98. If he sees that you are really committed and interested your test scores are not everything that counts. If you want to understand economics - this is your man!

A great prof. Excellent class format with ample review. Anecdotes relate well with material and offer some periodic relief. I don't agree with others that tests are that hard-read the material, you'll be OK. Good textbook. Recommend highly.

Dr. Deak is not only well respected within Fairfield, but also within the state of CT. He heads the internship program which is a great way to knock out a couple credits and get a real world learning experience. Although demanding, makes class material tangible by linking material to current events.
