Took calculus with him. The guy is brilliant but his logic could really hurt students. Most students struggle to learn with his style, and there are better ways to teach math and get people to understand it. I got the best grade in my class but I still left with a bad understanding of certain concepts. Lectures are useless, but it's an easy A

Doesnt have a structured lecture, takes the entire class period to do two problems for precalc. Tests are similar to practice tests final is cumulative. Lectures a waste of time. Also cracks jokes that only he laughs at which makes class awkward.

very abstract class, if you are not the abstract type of people, don't take it. Everything is abstract. Does give practice exam and quiz, which very similar to the real one, but no practice final. This could be a difficult class even with the practice material that you have, so consider it before you take it.

At first, I was intimidated by his use of logic. But the more I understood it the more I appreciated it. He gives practice quizzes and test which are almost identical to the actual ones. He gives extra credit and is available at the stem center. If you do the work and put in the time you should get an A.

I thought pre cal would be easy since I took calculus in high school Instead it was kind of a challenge because he provided an entirely different perspective on math than what I was used to. He teaches students to use logic to understand the rules and properties in math instead of having us blindly follow them Take this class only if you love math

Talks about beauty of math alot. What hasn't been said much: Use old tests to study for final and you'll be fine. Uses very formal notation and proofs + can go fast, but prints packets of notes and you can go to the front to copy what you missed. No textbook. First weeks are always on logic. Does HW in class. Doesn't check email. Drops lowest test.

Prof. Batchelor is unlike any other professor you'll find at Chabot. He teaches math in a very formal manor, but is very organized and lenient with it. It amazes me how he can make the most difficult concepts and problems seem to be a joke. His lectures are also deep, and makes math seem very interesting. Best professor Chabot has to offer for math

Do not take his class if you don't enjoy math. He talks at length about the beauty and joy of math and he teaches the material in a way that is interesting, but if you don't care it's just tedious and more difficult to review things later on. He gives extra credit homework and tests are very similar to the practice exams, so study those well.

the class was hard. I worked hard for my for my A. If you take his class get ready for boring lectures awkward silence and loads of homework and handouts. You don't have to take notes at least I didn't because I stored all the information in my head.

He is the best math teacher i have ever had! He really is a phenomenal teacher, the proofs are the structures in mathematics, and if you pay attention, he will greatly help you build a strong foundation, so that you could comfortably and efficiently work in the world of mathematics.

Don't buy the textbook, he assigns hw but no one does it because he also assigns a separate hw packet which will be 5 extra credit on your next quiz or exam (do most of it and he'll give you full 5 points, do some and he'll give you 3 points) Your grade is out of 500 points and your final is 200 points. Drops your lowest exam or total quiz/attendan

The first teacher I've had that inspires ppl to understand the beauty/history of math. If taken for Calculus, he will challenge your foundation and push you to really understand it all. He breaks large concepts down to the essentials and removes tedium but then goes into great detail to prove these basics. It takes focus but the ends are worth it.

Do not take him unless you can learn by yourself. he is super abstract and over complicates every concept (tons of proofs!) and he has a lot of handouts Attendance is part of your grade. Homework is 5% extra credit on tests. Tests/quizzes are easy and VERY similar to his practice packets so just study questions like those and you can get an A.

There are 4 quizzes (1 is attendance), 3 exams and 1 final. If you complete the homework, you will receive up to 5% EC on exams & final. I found him very helpful and try to see him while he's at math lab. He knows what's he's teaching and is passionate about calculus. I highly recommend Batchelor. He gives out packets of notes & handwrites notes.

Three exams and three quizzes plus participation points. The final is worth 40% of your grade. Took him for both Multivariable and Diff EQ and had an A going into both finals and ended up walking out with C's in both. His practice tests are similar to his actual exams which allows you to slack during the semester until he slaps you with the final.

I like his effort to teach a new way, but I didn't understand him. I had over 50 hours at the math lab to understand the material. Class takes time and effort. Great to offer extra credit and lots of packets to help get ready for the exams.

The practice tests are too similar to the actual tests. This does not give students enough incentive to work through his HW packets, and the textbook. The lectures are usually very hard to follow for all but the most interested students. That being said, his lectures are excellent for some. Take this class if you are a slacker, or are inspired.

Honestly, Mr. Bathchelor is by far one the best Math teachers I've had at Chabot. Despite his lectures about universe & Theory, I learned how to love and appreciate Math. His quizzes and test were easy. His homework packets helps a lot for practice. Yes, he gives a lot of proofs, but don't just memorize, actually understand them. Awesome teacher.
