I took his Civil War class and really enjoyed it. He is fun during lecture and is easily thrown off topic (mostly trying to get people to talk about golf). Just take notes on the readings and get ready for quizzes. Participation matters.

He is the worst professor I have ever had. This was a gen ed for me, and I had to work 40 times harder in this class then my four other WRITING PROCESS Soc classes combined. He has quizzes almost every class, and do not even get me started on the exams. They are hard and no matter how much studying you put in the likelihood of you failing is high.

I like him as a person, but as a professor he expects way too much from students who aren't majoring in history or education. You will probably fail his tests unless you know how he grades. I did all of the homework, essays, study pods, tutoring, etc. and barely scraped by.

Most of my peers weren't willing to put a couple of hours into reading the text book a week, which is why I did better than almost everyone else. If you study outside of class, you will ace quizzes and exams. His lectures aren't very beneficial. Success is dependent on reading every chapter and speaking up in class.

Tough grader; unless you write down things he's looking for specifically in essays, you'll receive a poor grade. Quizzes every week, loads of readings, and with the way he grades exams, they're quite hard. Too much stress if you're taking him for a gen. ed credit

Strongly recommend not to take this class unless you are a history major or extremely good at history. You have a quiz every single week on the readings and you have to read around 50 pages for every class. Class discussions are usually not related to what you read. He marks down when you participate and exams are difficult and completely essay.

Broussard is a very interesting professor. He likes to make jokes, play random games, and giveout chewing gum. He follows the book for class, and he is looking for contribution from students (he likes being asked a question and not answering it). All in all a very good professor for a history class.

If you have even a mild interest in American History, you will find his classes incredibly fascinating. Also, he provides study guides for EVERY test and quiz, which contain the contents of the test. Doesn't get much easier than that.

Definitely the star of the history dept. His classes are difficult, and they require you to do the reading to do well on tests and quizzes, but he's funny as hell, and if you zone out during his lectures, it won't hurt your grade. Very laid-back, although he thinks the South won the Civil War..

For a 200 level class there is way too much reading and writing. I am taking this as an "easy" elective but it's taking up just as much time as my 400 level business major classes. Do NOT take this class unless you love history.

Interesting teacher, very hard if you dislike history. His tests and quizes require study time you cant just wing it. All of his classes are lectures, but it is very easy to get him off topic, just talk about paper airplanes or rolling various fruits down the hallway! Also, he thinks the south won the civil war

"As long as you study enough" Yeah, that's an understatement! While Broussard is funny and care-free, i had to study more for his course than i did for my major. I'm no history buff, so this course was an extreme challenge for me. I don't recommend it unless you are fully prepared for the work required!

Doc B is the man! Found this site looking for his email address and had to rate him. I'm class of '86 and changed major to history beteen soph and junior year. Was terrified I'd suck...but didn't because he is a great teacher. I survived law school due to Doc B. I should have taken his advice, stayed in school, and never went into the real world.

Broussard is a great professor. I have attempted to take as many classes as possible with him. His lectures are long and boring, but you can zone out because you don't need the information. As long as you read and study, you will do well in his class. He's a great guy and I gurantee you will have fun in his class often, albeit being bored at times.

Dr. Broussard is the man. Yes, the class requires a lot of reading, but he is very passionate about United States history, and it shows in his lectures. What other professor do you know that lets you roll grapefruits down the hallway? Quizzes aren't too bad, either are the tests, as long as you study a decent amount the class is easy~

Doesn't go over the reading, impossible to follow his lectures, is a really bizzare man, but can be funny. Quizzes aren't that difficult, but the hour exams are.
