Comment:

Loved her! She's very laid back and, although you have to read 4 novels, they aren't boring and she goes over them thoroughly, just make sure you take notes because she gives you hints as to what is going to be on tests. Overall, great class and prof!

Comment:

Professor Ty makes it easy for you to gain grades as long as you show up to class. She marks her written assignments (essays and in-class responses) pretty hard, but you can make up for it in participation and her "pop quizzes" (she will hint at them in the class before) which are give aways. Professional but still fun. Would take her class again!

I would STRONGLY recommend taking any of Dr. Ty's courses. The most amazing professor I have ever had at Laurier, by a long shot. The assigned readings are extremely interesting, along with lectures. She genuinely cares about her students and gives helpful feedback throughout. I would go out of my way to take a course taught by her again.

Dr. Ty is a great professor who truly cares about her students. I took both EN388 and EN420 with her and enjoyed both. She tries to choose texts that students will like/relate to and has assignments that appeal to different types of learners (ex: a blog post, a short presentation, an essay, etc.). She is also a fair marker!

An interesting lecturer who is fair and caring. She gave us all 10 minute individual interviews after the first test (class of 50)... not many profs do that! The course got me interested in poetry.

Comment:

One of my favorite teachers of all time. Extremely friendly and clear, she made every piece of literature we studied exciting, even those I initially disliked. Dr. Ty often examines literature from a Feminist standpoint, which some people dislike, but I really appreciated it. A wonderful class.
