Flitsiyan loves what she does and she cares so much about each of her students. Lectures are very thorough, likes deriving proofs and letting us try examples in groups. Honors classes usually have some group project. Grading scale is terrifying (96A, 95-90A-) but tests are usually very fair and she will take the time to review anything you need!

Mixes lectures with group work - solving problems on the whiteboard. Cares that the students understand the subject. Very understanding teacher.

Best teacher ever!! Just do the homework before the tests because most of the test problems are from the homework. Sweet and caring lady who really cares about her students, helping them to succeed.

Amazing person. Extremely skilled in the field, had incredible stories every class (randomly mentioned how Bohr was fat, we asked how she knew, she responded she met him. Very nonchalant). Class was hard if you don't remember calc or physics (like me) but I probably got the lowest grade in the class (easy A for everyone else). Great partial credit.

She's like the head of the physics department and is on a crusade to convert everyone to a physics major. She definitely knows her stuff and is good in office hours. Took the time to learn our names (small honors class). Homework online via webassign. Graded tests generously. Material is difficult (very different!), and her lectures were meh.

She's a soft talker and the material isn't presented in a lively manner. If you struggle staying awake in lecture or listening through thick accents, I would not recommend her for you. You can't skip lecture because surprise quizzes do come up. Most of the difficulty comes from trying to learning despite her weak presentation skills.

One of the better teachers I have encountered over the years. I would suggest sitting close. Her accent can make it difficult to hear what she is saying. Know how to do the homework problems and you should be good for the exams. Offered extra credit project. Let me make up missed quiz during office hours. Loves physics. Memorable for me.

As a transfer student, I wasnt sure what to expect. Prof Flitsiyan was very helpful. Her lectures were straight forward and easily understood. She cares that students understand the concepts taught. The homework reinforces lectures and prepares you for exams. Also, her grading criteria is very fair. I enjoyed the class & recommend this instructor.

Love this professor. Absolute treat to hear her lecture. She's the head of the undergraduate physics department at ucf and you can tell she really does care, and she does. Go into her office, talk to her after class, she may come off a little brusque at times but that's just her Russian accent. Clear on what is required in the class. Good lecturer.

Very nice old lady that loves her students, but i didnt learn a single thing in her physics 1 class. she teaches by doing long examples on the board. Homework was mostly on yahoo answers

Her accent made lectures boring, but she is very accessible outside of class. Go find the solutions manual online, as HW problems are textbook problems with different numbers, but try problems without it first. She did many things to "curve" the class (e.g. dropped a quiz, reworked test scores). Try to study as you go to stay on pace. Got an A.

Loved! She cares a lot for students and wants you to learn. Office hours saved my grade; they helped a lot! Her accent is thick and her in class lectures weren't very helpful. 3 test, no final, pop quizzes but this was during summer C so maybe different during regular semesters. She knows what she's doing and is very passionate about physics.

Was an absolue treat. Clear requirement for the course, gives lots of help. If you ace the first exam, the rest arent so bad. Special relativity was the harder part for students to understand. The rest is actually easily learned.

Dr. Flitsiyan is a brilliant, passionate, and wonderful professor who truly cares about her students. The group project encouraged us to learn beyond the scope of the material. She encourages students to ask questions and learn and will sit down and take her time to make sure you are learning. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for you to take her for PHY 3101

Dr. Flitsiyan one of this hard to find passionate professors in the STEM field. There's nothing worse than taking advanced Physics courses with a teacher who is about to put you to sleep. She goes out of her way to help every student and is very friendly. I look forward to her lectures. She also has a very impressive resume in the field.

An AMAZING professor. Don't be frightened off by first impressions, she's ridiculously nice. More than willing to help you outside of class. Class content isn't easy but tests are way easier than HW so you'll be prepared. Interesting class + she's really passionate. P.S. TB + solution manual are online, and the online HW Qs are also in the TB.

Dr. Flitsiyan gave me a much deeper interest in physics- she's a great lecturer. She's also VERY helpful in her office hours. She does, however, expect you to actually UNDERSTAND physics. For better or for worse, she makes sure you get the grade you deserve... so if you're an A student, take her; if you're a "Cs get degrees" student, skip her.
