She is an amazing teacher, probably the best I've had here at UMass. lectures are engaging, and she makes what could be a very boring subject super interesting. The tests are fair and she gives you plenty of study material, which, if you're familiar with, make the tests relatively straightforward.

Textbook is a must for lab. Class isn't all that hard, you just have to stay on top of everything. She's extremely helpful and willing to meet with you to clear up points of confusion. My favorite biology class so far! Definitely worth taking!!!

Don't be confused when signing up for Connor's Histology class, it's hard. It's a lot of work. However she is a good, competent professor. She brings a good energy and knows a lot about the topics. She's extremely reasonable about catering to everyone's schedule for reviews etc. By the end of this class I will have learned A LOT. Hats off to Connor

If you keep up the work, it is possible to achieve the grade you desire. Lab work is very crucial to this class, and you can definitely relate the lab with the material in class. Her exams are kind of ridiculous because she wants very detailed answers, it will require you to draw and explain thoroughly. She is a very nice lady who cares for student

I don't know why all these people who had her for 100 or 101 are so negative. Probably because they were new to biology at the time. Her histology class is great! She really likes the subject and it shows in her teaching of it. Very nice lady. If you put hard work in, she notices and your grade is reflected accordingly. I recommend her!

She is a really nice lady, but her teaching skills need some brushing up. She moves very fast and when you go to office hours to seek some help she goes as fast as she does in class which is of no help. Avoid any class that she teaches.

She talks too fast and gets lost often, calling her TA Ling, Ming, Wing.....when her name is Ying. She's a little loopy. I think her tests are relatively easy. But I'm sure there are much better profs (like Randy).

She went through course material quickly at times. However, she held two review sessions each week, and attending them really helped to clear up points of confusion. Tests weren't too bad, but some of the questions were rotten (in terms of wording.)

C'mon, I had Phillis last semester and got an AB. This professor expects way too much from a intro level course, and went too quickly. I thought the final was a prank bc i knew about 10 questions on it, i heard houlihan was better, so opt for that class

She does go pretty fast, but slows down when we tell her to. She focuses too much on neuroscience for an intro bio class because that is her specialty. Tests and quizzes can be hard, but not impossible, but gives good review sessions before each test.

Take Randy Phillis whenever you can!!! She goes much to fast and does not explain things very clearly. The material is easy enough, but she just explains it in a way that makes you go "what!!?" Don't take her if you don't have to

She is a nice person but a horrendous teacher. She is a neurobiologist and hence, just wants to teach about neurobology and not Biology 101. She needs to come to a 101 level class and stop trying to trick the students every step of the way.
