Dr. Howard is amazing, but is not an easy professor by any means. However, she is one of the few tough professors that is worth it. She is insanely smart and really does care about her students. She will not take any crap from you though.

Tough class, threw me in for a loop. She is willing to help you, but expect her to be blunt sometimes. You will have to work your ass for even a B. Also you gotta read or else you will fail. Personally I wouldnt take this class again, but if you can handle it go for it.

Had her last semester for Honors. Easy class, but SUPER tough grader. Could not seem to manage an A on any of her papers, even after going to office hours. Prompts are really open-ended but she expects specific details regardless your topic. Worked endless hours for a B. Really make sure you dedicate yourself to this class.

Dr. Howard is VERY tough. You will for sure work for a good grade, but as long you attend class and do the homework, you will be fine. She answers all questions to the best of her ability and is not afraid to call students out in the middle of class. Like the last poster said, you're in for a challenging yet rewarding semester with this prof.

I had Prof. Howard for Linguistics, and she is the BEST professor I've had at Kent. Be prepared: this is an extremely tough class. Do your work and you will be fine. You need to show up, otherwise you will fall behind quickly. Lots of info in class- every single day counts. Be prepared for a tough yet spunky semester with Dr. Howard:)

This professor is beyond horrible ,rude and unclear .she never follow the syllabus. Impossible in grading .Never reply emails ! The most difficult thing for me that she was really un respectful and resist.. My life became a nightmare because of the way she treated me .I will not recommend her to my enemies .

Dr. Howard is... Unique to say the least. She is funny and totally a hippie but can also be serious and quite intimidating. But once you break through her shell she can be a real sweetheart. Be ready to read until your eyes bleed but it's interesting stuff. She gets really passionate about the books and loves a good argument.

Took her for Honors. She is a tough grader. I barely made it out with a B. I have never worked harder for a class. You need to put so much time into your papers. But she will help you! If you have any questions or you're just out of ideas TALK TO HER. She wants what she wants, and you most likely don't know what that is SO ASK HER.

I liked this course a lot. Second time I have taken Dr. Howard's class. She is very nice and smart. I have deep respect for her. My favorite professor ever. Take this course if you are a smart person and like to learn new, exciting things about the language.

I love this professor. Very Smart. Brilliant, actually. Took two of her classes, would take again, but graduating soon. You will learn a lot from her. She can explain the most difficult material and make it seem easy. She does like smart people though. So, if you are one of them, take her class. You won't regret it. Highly Recommend.

Dr. Howard is fantastic. She is very funny and very knowledgeable. She explains things very clearly and is always willing to help. The content of this class is very interesting, but also extremely difficult. Dr. Howard has a balance of letting her students figure things out by themselves and also modeling how to do things during class. Great prof!

One of the most challenging classes I've ever taken, but rewarding too. Dr. Howard expects a lot, but if you read the material, come to class, and are a competent writer, a B is achievable. HIGHLY recommend meeting with her during office hours. She is more than willing to help and point you in directions to explore if you're stuck with a paper.

Had her for both History of English and Linguistics. Hands down, the best professor of my college career. The material she teaches is tough, but she'll slow down if you don't understand. Don't let the syllabus scare you. Expect to WORK and study for this class, but it's well worth it! She's an awesome lady who's always willing to help
