She has a lovely accent that makes math at 8:30 just that much more bearable. Do all the work and she is on your side 100% and will do everything she can to help you... include over-ride a mistake on the online homework. Do the handbook through twice and the final will be a lovely morning!

Don't give up after the midterms! I cannot stress this enough. I horribly failed both midterms but finished with an A+. I'm positive that I got close to 100% on the final. McLeish will literally make you hate life... but I believe it's impossible to do poorly in her course as a result! Listen to everything she says and you'll do fine.

do everything she says! i finished with an A- in the course and got below 45% on both midterms which absolutely demolish you. BUT she is a very good prof and explains things well so class attendance is important. the amount you put in, the better you will suceed. she really wants you to pass. do all the homework and corrections and you'll be ok!

hard course. do ALL the work assigned (extra practice, extra depth, assignments, textbook q's), and don't freak out over the 2 extremely hard and long mid terms. Although I failed both mid terms, i finished with an A- in the course since we were so well prepared for the final. she's a great professor, extremely smart and helpful.

Her midterms were difficult, mostly because they were so long. But they prepare you extremely well for the final. You must put in the time and do all of the homework to do well. But she is an amazing prof. She clearly explains what she expects from the class and prepares you so the final is pretty easy. I highly recommend taking a class with her.

Pretty much the hardest course I've taken at Uvic so far.. did ALL the homework, no joke probably AT LEAST 4-5 hours a day and more on weekends..midterms are nuts. failed them. I actively participated all the time... Personally, thought the final was a bit hard still. She makes me so nervous I was shaking while writing all exams. BUT she's great.

Honestly probably some of the hardest gruelling midterms ever, however they were extremely beneficial to us in the end. Do the homework. The hard midterms made the final a breeze i'm not kidding. Pretty sure we wiped out all the other sections by a mile. SHES THE BEST!! So glad I chose her

Great Prof. Her midterms are incredibly difficult, but I've never felt so prepared for the final. Most of the time I didnt finish her midterms, but they are great to study with and the final seems incredibly easy. Ive taken calculus once before and thought it was impossible, she changed that. Never heard it explained so nicely and easy great class!

I loved McLeish. She was a fantastic prof. Probably the best prof I've ever had. Don't get me wrong the course is very challenging and if you don't do your work you will be in trouble. But for me she made me excited to one day teach math :)

I was pretty worried about the first mid-term, as I only finished about 70% of it, but after spending a more time studying and doing the extra practice exercises I smashed the second mid-term. Do not expect to do well in this class unless you complete ALL of the work. Dr McLeish is very willing to help you so long as you've done said work.

If you are willing to put the work in and do everything Dr. McLeish says you will have no problem getting an A in this course. Yes calculus is boring, but Dr. McLeish brings a great sense of humour and genuinely cares about her students. One of the BEST profs at UVIC!!

Dr Mcleish is one of the worst math teachers I have encountered. Her Midterms are (like eveyone has said) impossible to finish and tediously long. She loves her im-not-your-friend role, and is high and mighty on her rules. You can expect to fail both midterms - and her coy smile lets you know she expects it too. big thumbs down.

Dr McLeish is a great prof. However, her midterms are brutal. Very long and almost impossible to finish. That being said, if you do the homework and understand the corrected midterms the final is fairly straightforward and is set up with a similar format to her midterms (80 minute class).

first midterm is long and very hard to complete unless you can finish everything really quickly. second midterm is a bit better but expect relatively low marks and failing for both. assignments are a good mark booster. final is tough but if you do the work you can still get a B or higher
