Very helpful professor although the homework she gives is very hard because she expects you to learn about half of it by teaching yourself. She sort of reminds of a genius physics professor from a movie.

Great Professor! She's super smart and quirky, but the quirky makes her awesome! I'm definitely going to take more of her classes if I can.

I credit this professor with the fact that I am an Astrophysics major. It wasn't even on my radar of possibilities until I took her intro class. She gets so excited when ppl show interest, and is always willing to teach things outside of the scope of the class to those interested students at office hours. One of F&M's best!

Great Professor. Knows her stuff and is very interested in sharing it with an interested student. Is thrilled when people are interested. She is very kind-hearted and very understanding. She also has a wonderful sense of humor! She is always willing to help students and genuinely values it when students come to her office hours. Great class!!

I had her for intro physics back in '95. I liked her so much, I took her seminar in Cosmology two years later. She's a great teacher and a nice lady. Everyone is right though, that you need to be prepared to stretch yourself and work hard. That being said, she was always willing to work through difficult problems during office hours.

I disagree with the previous commenter. The lab was not hard as long as you are prepared. Prof Praton was incredibly helpful, but she does not let you slide with a half-assed effort, unlike some other professors.

I had this prof. for a lab for my major. Let me just say, if at all possible, AVOID HER LAB!! She is not only condescending with most of her remarks, she is really vague as to what she wants and what she expects. Moreover, she grades everything INCREDIBLY hard and TRIES to find excuses to take points off. This lab REALLY brought down my grade.

I think she actually came from one of those distant quasar stars she is always talking about. This class is about as sweet as jumping off the top of schnader and landing headfirst. If you find that appealing, then take the class. Otherwise, understand that a 4 hour physics or bio lab is a much better way to fulfill the lab course than this joke.

This class was ridiculously easy. If you have ever taken a pre-cal or physics course, even in high school, this class will seem painfully slow at times (we once discussed what a y=x curve looks like). She teaches well, however, and makes the subject material exciting.

Slackers beware. May seem unapproachable at first, but don't be fooled. Good sense of humor and always willing to help, beyond the call of duty. Ladies especially, go talk to her if you think you're bad at math and science. She's kept me going any number of times, all 4 years here.

Please DO NOT take this class. It involves way more calc and physics than you think. She does not explain anything and tests make up 65% of your grade.
