I literally cannot say enough about how much I love Professor Young. She is exceptionally smart, compassionate, and always composed. Readings were always relevant to the films we were discussing as well as digestible and never too long. She is encouraging of students and genuinely wants everyone to succeed. She is the reason I am a film major.

Elizabeth is one of those professors with whom you take a class and are never the same. She cares for every student and is always available to meet; she offered me help with everything from public speaking to papers to problems I had in my other classes. Plus she is utterly brilliant and I love listening to all she has to offer.

Elizabeth was kind and accessible, discussions were encouraging and open. Taste-wise, some of the books amazing (Bechdel, Lahiri), others reeeally not good (Faulkner). She was really amazing with accommodations! I would say do as much of the reading as far ahead of time as possible.

Elizabeth is amazing! She expects a lot of her students but is right there beside to offer help. She is willing to assist with papers, and even spent time working with me on speaking up, as participation is required. She also makes it a priority to know everyone's name which makes the class feel more comfortable.

I felt that Professor Young's teaching style closed off the books we read as opposed to opening them up for further thought. She encourages class discussions, but is not always great at helping people not reiterate endlessly what other people have said. I don't think that I would take a class with her again.

Elizabeth is a great prof and leads seminars really well. Very helpful when going to office hours. She was my advisor my fist year and always has the correctmost helpful information. Long history with MHC and knows the school really well. She really likes gothic and film studies. ENG 200 is a great class to take with her.

She's a really helpful. She's really good with Gothic works and loves working with themes of death etc. She has helped me a lot with my papers. She appreciates class participation. She is passionate and bright. Sometimes she takes things too Gothic for my taste (I enjoy Gothic themes). I suggest taking a class with her.

Love this class. Love this professor. She is funny and engaging and really loves Hitchcock films. Always loved his movies, but it wasn't until I took her class that I learned to analyze and appreciate them. Take her class. BUT be prepared for a LOT of reading. LOTS.

Currently taking her Hitchcock and After class. She is passionate about Hitchcock and knows so much about his films. Screenings are on Mon nights from 7:00 - 10:00 but the films are fun to watch so you don't mind. She seems to care about her students and their input is important to her. Not sure yet how this will go, but so far, I like the class.

Good professor, but horrible academic advisor! She was mine during my first year. She constantly would cancel meetings at that last minute even when I needed to meet with her to register for classes. It was seriously ridiculous. People should definitely take her classes, but beware of her as an advisor!

Very good at facilitating discussions and getting students to make interesting connections between the texts. Good at commenting on papers, and understanding in letting one revision so students can improve an argument for a better grade. Very interesting approach to the Intro class, overall awesome!

Professor Young is perhaps the nicest most humble professor I have come across so far at MHC. She makes you work pretty hard for your grade but rewrites allow you to compensate for weaker grades. She really really appreciates class participation which is great! The texts used were brilliant and class was always interesting

Great prof. and class. Learning went beyond Hitch**** to include a huge variety of subjects through many different forms of work. Prof. manages to balance things well. You get to read from both primary and secondary sources. You'll want to go to class because it's fun, and you'll learn a lot.

I didn't think I was going to get on with her as she seemed too businesslike at first but I was totally won over by her ability to handle a large seminar group. She ensured everyone contributed & then gave an indepth critical analysis of the work being discussed. Very approachable & encourages you to explore your own topics for papers.
