Comment:
Loved Professor Barman's class. The subject matter for SO201 is pretty dry, but I don't fault her for that. She definitely seems to understand how dull the class topic is ad she does her best to relate and liven it up. Enjoyed her class greatly.

She is great at relating to students. Although there was a lot of reading, the class never seemed hard. She is very understanding and an easy grader who gives feedback on every assignment. If you send her an assignment by email she will reply using "thnx" via phone. Overall, I found her informative and helpful.

She's one of my favorite professors at BU! She's hilarious, caring, knowledgeable, and kind. As long as you show up to class listen and read the readings you'll be good. Since she actually cares so much she WILL notice if you don't show up to class. She is very willing to compromise or give an extension if you ask nicely and have a good reason.

You don't have to do much for this class, but you also won't learn much. Also, like previous commenter said-- the material is easy and so is the class, but somehow the tests are still hard to ace. Barman knows this class is boring, but . . . she really doesn't put in much effort here either.

Barman teaches with Powerpoints that she posts on Studentlink the day before. I thought reading the book was pretty helpful. I found the exams to be slightly tricky. Projects help boost your grade. I usually don't like profs who teach with Powerpoint, but she was very approachable and made the class bearable.

everyone says barman is really easy but i thnk she made her class harder this yr. the median grade was a B. on the first exam, the avg grade was a b- and a C on the final. most people did okay on the project so it raised their grade. i managed a grade in the A range and i only did that because i got an A on the project. MC tests are really tricky.

Considering course material, Barman keeps things relatively interesting. Homework is mostly reading the book. Tests are multiple choice and short answer--not too difficult. Also there is a research project but you work on it all year so it's spaced out.

Prof. Barman's exams are very straightforward and to the point; however, she is too nitpicky when grading papers. A funny professor, I do recommend her!

Teaches like we're 12. Doesn't give students enough credit in the sense that she keeps everything AMAZINGLY simple-minded. Perhaps its just the material, but none the less, this class was not at all intellectually stimulating.

She tries really hard to make a horrible class interesting, but she fails miserably. Her tests are awful! She writes very ambiguous answers for her MC questions. The 4 assignments are boring, pointless, and a waste of time. She is really nice, class sucks

She is ridiculously nice and tries really hard to make the class interesting. Unfortunately, the topic of the class is horrid and no matter how hard she tries, it will always be boring. She teaches like an elementary school teacher and her class is easy
