Eric is an incredible teacher. I'm not a UMass student, but I've taken a few private lessons over the years and am always in awe of his talent as a musician and a teacher.

Eric is a great teacher and mentor. He does use a metronome and a drone in lessons. The previous rating was from a student who was rejected from the program three times. If his students are the worst in the department, then the ones he reject must really be bad. If you study with him, you will learn how to play correctly,period. Heisan asset.

his student are among the worst in the department, which reflects poorly on his teaching. he never uses a metronome in lessons, prefering to clap, which adds to his students' inability to play with good time.

Eric is a mentor to me. No "easiness" grade is appropriate as he varies his style according to how much work you put in. He has been extremely helpful for me, in trumpet and beyond, and has given me far more than "my money's worth."

Eric is a great teacher. He is more than willing to try different ways to get things across, and is caring about your life and what's going on in it. Often he needs to rearrange schedules, but everything comes out even in the end... a little flexibility is the price you have to pay anywhere to have a teacher that is really involved in the field.
