I really enjoyed his class! His lectures were enthusiastic, interesting, and he promoted class discussion. On the final had short answer questions that you only would of known if you attended class so thats a must. Used the text lots for exam essays. Very fair exams! Very helpful tutorials! Sure he was a late marker but he was goin thru a hard time

Eric is a nice, knowledgable prof who is very interested in his subject. His lectures can be long and go no-where and are hard to follow. There are alot of exam prep questions. He marks assignments easy but takes FOREVER to give them back. You have to nag him.

Comment:

Marks received mid February... his mother died and it affected him deeply. This was the reason he couldnt get the marking done. He cancelled class often and did not make proper arrangments to get our materials marked. However when he was there he was very helpful, and knowledgable. If he returns to teaching, I would recommend taking his class.

He is a very good teacher. He is also very lenient with due dates so really there is no excuse not to be done on time. He seems to think that a lot of people have problems with his teaching methods but I don't have a problem with it at all.

very confusing lecturer, but would offer help in office hours to clear up confusion. very weird examples, cancels class alot, but easy marker and lenient. even gives exams before they are due. overall, pretty decent prof but does get confusing

Awesome Prof. Very easy and helpful. Was very slow with marking but made up for it with leniency in the deadline and the mark. Once again take this professor if you want to get a good mark and have fun.

Slow marker and cancels class without much notice, but makes up for it by being very lenient with deadlines of essays and posting a large amount of the final in the class notes. I don't mind having classes cancelled, but thats just me. Nice enough guy, topics are usually pretty interesting and encourage real thought. Has a sense of humour too.

I would not recommend taking this class. He never responded to e-mails, is an extremely slow marker, never gets anything back to you (so you have no idea how you are doing in the class). He cancels class without much notice. He is very slack, but still has high expectations. Overall, the class was quite boring. He never used the textbook.

While it is true that he cancels class often and is a slow marker I felt that he made up for that in class content. There are no notes really required but I thought that the class was extremely thought provoking and really increased my interest in the subject. I would recommend taking a class from this guy

Lectures were a very round-about way of relating basic information. I thought the text was more interesting and useful. No note taking required. Midterm and final questions are given before you write. An ok class but I'm looking for a different prof for my next sociology class.

Very little notetaking involved that made it difficult to motivate myself to go to class. Quite unorganized at times and had difficulty going through course material. However a very nice prof that marks generally easy. Very approachable as well

Very good. possibly the best prof I have had so far. Funny, laid back, understanding, and honest. puts emphasis on actually learning and thinking. Seems a little unorganized at times but all in all creates interesting discussions and is able to clarify any aspect of the class with relevant examples. Enjoys teaching and learning from students.

I do not recommend taking his class. The discussions in class were very boring to sit through. He would email and cancel class just a few hours before it was supposed to start. The final exam had 20 short answer and 6 essays to write!! He also curved our marks down at the end.

Great prof. Very understanding of students needs/work load. Tests are easy and he gives you hints on the upcoming exam so pay attention. Get on his good side by actively participating in the class discussions, even if you don't agree with what he saying, try to say something.
