Comment:

Dr. Stern made CIE really interesting and thought provoking. He's hilarious and he strikes up great debates about personal opinions. His essay grading is pretty tough, but if you try to answer all of his questions (he asks you to explain EVERYTHING) then you'll do well. I loved having him in class, he was great.

Dr. Stern is a formidably intelligent individual. That said, he is a poor teacher, egomaniacal and without empathy for his students. Stern teaches as if his opinion were the only logical conclusion. Students he deems less capable are given higher grades for less work. Those judged favorably are given disproportionately low grades to "motivate" them

Stern is perhaps the best professor at the College, if not certainly the best in the Politics department. He is challenging, but you can tell he is interested about what he teaches and has great command of it. I really enjoyed the discussions during his class and it was the only class I've had so far that I never wanted to skip. Very down to Earth.

I had Paul Stern for CIE my entire freshman year, having been a part of Project Delphi. He is easily one of the most challenging and impressive teachers I've had. A great man with a great mind and a great heart (though he'd never admit to it). Good-natured and is never afraid to challenge his students.
