Comment:
She's a terrible professor. Unless you are very proactive in trying to understand the material and ask her questions directly, she gives unreasonable examples during lectures that are nothing like the exam or quizzes. The lectures confuse you even more and statistics isn't the toughest subject out there.

She is a great person, very approachable, but was not a fan of her teaching approach for my engin prob and stats class. Had to pretty much learn everything on my own. she didnt teach anything useful that will be on the exam in class. classes are fun and interactive, not gonna lie. be ready to teach yourself everything from the book. uses iclickers

She may be the most unhelpful teacher i have ever had the displeasure of having to learn from. Class is uninformative and mandatory. The homework is completely unrelated to what we do in class. The textbook is not helpful. Maybe some people like flipped classroom but i haven't met any. It's en engineering class; teach equations and give homework.

A pleasant person but gave A LOT of reading for an intro STEM class. The quizzes asked about small things on the dense pdfs. Often I got 60% on the quizzes even though I read it all and tried to memorize it. Loves iclicker questions and the class is team-based so you can't skip. Kind of a boring intro class, but I think she tried her best.

She was an awesome professor with a heavy background in environmental issues in third world countries. I would definitely take her classes again.

Erin Baker is a nice woman. She is not a good teacher. She will have groups do "engineering" activities in class that are just pointless. The group never has enough time to get anything done. She also doesn't prepare you for the "IRAT" tests (online test done individually). She grades easily because she had to, everyone would fail otherwise.

The only hard thing about this class was the creo tech drawing lab aspect and even that you get the hang of. The class is a joke and i feel as though i wasted a semester going and "learning" the "material" from that class. Very easy to get a good grade though

Professor Baker was a very nice lady... but her teaching was god awful. She gave bland lectures and many times would just not show up and have guest speakers. The class was useless and I don't feel like I've learned anything about engineering other than a CAD program in the lab.

ENGIN 113? More like HIPPIE 101. Learned more about sustainability than I did engineering. No need to even take notes or pay attention in class. The lab is what I looked forward to the most, even though you teach yourself how to use desigining software. Creo 2.0 is a must have for this class, since you'll be learning straight from the book

The only useful part of this course was the lab which was very useful. Other than that the class was pretty pointless. Half the grade is a project that is graded easily but boring. The material seems pointless to engineering. Baker is the only professor teaching this course so you're stuck with her.

Whole class was focused around her own research on energy technology. Labs were interesting, until the final one (in which they, after not teaching us a thing about actual engineering all year, expected us to be able to design and build an engine in CAD with particular specifications). Would not have taken course if I'd known it would be like this.

Interesting class. Powerpoint driven. Giant project at the end. All MechE and Industrial Engineering majors take it. CAD is the hardest part.

Extremely boring class. Has nothing to do with learning mechanical engineering. Learn more about economics than anything. Pretty much learn what you could easily learn in one day over the entire semester. Lots of guest speakers. No midterm or final and the quizzes are open note. Project required that's worked on all semester.

I know its an intro class but I don't feel like I learned any mechanical engineering. It was basic economics other than the lab section which seemed useful although it teaches an inferior program. If you have to take it, its fairly easy and mildly interesting though I often feel I am smarter than her.

I know it's an intro course, but she assumes that everyone is dull as dirt. I know absolutely nothing more about my major than I did when I started the class. The class is easy but is absolutely terrible to sit through.

Great class if youre a industrial engineering and wanna go towards the finance end. Work hard on the practice exams, your homeworks, and go to class. You do thoose three things youll get a good grade. She wont try to be all tricky on the exams she just wants you to know the material.
