He never explains anything at all. Just reads from the book aloud. He doesn't want to teach and does not know how to teach. Ask him a question, answers it and skips reading the rest of the chapter aloud and starts reading the next chapter aloud. These positive reviews are false and written by teachers and other school officials.

Comment:

First, he isn't very clear in his lectures. He reads straight from the book. For the most part, you show up to his class and he gives you packets to work out of. And make sure to bring your book to class otherwise he'll kick you out for not having it. I have not learned much in this class. I highly recommend NOT to take this class.

Mr. Ionel is a great professor as long as you show up and are willing to work, you'll receive a good grade for this class. I feel the past reviews, no one was willing to put the effort in that's why they are mad at the professor. Just show up, do the homework, and study and you'll pass this class. I highly recommend to take this teacher.

Doesn't lecturewont speak unless you ask a ?. Isn't teaching anyone. Writes in front of himself, cant see his writing in front row, writes from left to right (his equations r long run-on sentences). Says Americans are cheaters. If u need a math instructor don't sign up and waste your time. This guy will set u up to fail and smirk about it.

Pros: Not very strict on attendance Not a lot HW besides weekly labs Cons: Arrives to class late, leaves during lecture with no notice, reads straight off the book, the few times he does go over a math problem he stands right in front of the white board & not clear at all. Overall: DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS PROFESSOR

I am in his Precalculus class. Tests are hard but he gives list of questions on his website. This list covers all questions asked on the test. No notes, not calculators, no formula sheet on the test. Clear explanation , but not an easy grader. No participation points. Only graded tests and graded homework.

His tests are hard, but he gives you a lot of time to complete it. Requires to bring graph paper to write tests and use pen not pencil. Lectures are good. No participation points. Only tests and homework.

Late to class, makes a lot of mistakes, isn't clear while lecturing, and even stands in front of the board so you can't even see what he's writing half the time. Half the class dropped after only the first month

Laziest professor ever! Shows up at least 20 minutes late every single class and then another 20 minutes to take attendance, my class is scheduled on the chabot web advisor to start at 3pm but if you take his class, expect to start class at least 40 min from the scheduled start time! He will show about 2-3 examples in a scheduled 2 hr class

Terrible and not clear. If you ask him a question, he will just make it even more confusing. Often times, he is very clumsy and there have been countless times where he lecturing and steps out of class for long periods of time without warning. All around, a very awful teacher.

Mr. Ionel is a very helpful teacher if you ask for his help. Being vocal and participating in class is a must. If you don't understand something, just ask. In my Experience, whenever we had any questions, he would try multiple ways to explain it and give different examples, but if you don't ask any questions, he assumes you understand the content.

Professor Ionel is great! I really think I learned why I was doing the things. The class is not too difficult if you do and understand the homework because that is directly where the tests come from. ! Be sure you have good compass and tons of graph paper if you decide to take Math 37. I would definitely take him again.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had. I already have my BA and I've had bad teachers, but he takes the cake. Doesn't care about students, reads directly from the book, doesn't explain problems, and is overall a poor teacher. The syllabus doesn't even have dates of tests on it. How unprofessional. Don't take him!

Stats like every other math class requires effort. If you want to learn at the same time have a good grade, take Mr. Ionel. He was very very helpful even when it took me more than one explanation for me to get what was going on. His Russian accent and stories make the class interesting. Do the practice test, it was very similar to actual test.

Mr.Ionel is very helpful if your willing to ask for help. In this class you have to pay attention and it helps if you do the practice test online. Overall all you can decide what grade you get depending on the effort you put in.

Comment:

Mr. Ionel teaches straight from the book. He skips steps and his pace is fast. You pretty much have to teach yourself, Mr. Ionel only goes over the problems. If you need more clarification he will help you but gets irritated easily. Because of his accent, he can be hard to understand. Not an easy class to pass. Tests are 12 question, 10 points each
