Sweet man but doesn't know how to lecture properly. Classes don't have an outline, all over the place. Extremely harsh grading, unfair expectations for answers and impossible to understand.

THE worst class I have taken at McGill. Professor Sabetti is a very sweet man who obviously loves the material, but his lectures are lost & confusing at best, and absolutely incoherent & inexplicably repetitive at worst. Every lecture is him rambling incoherently about the same reading over & over yet his grading is insanely harsh. SO MANY READINGS

He is a sweet, gentle, brilliant man and a terrible teacher. He speaks very softly, he has a pretty distinct accent, and his lectures are very unstructured/he tends to go off on tangents -- i.e., you will struggle to figure out what you're actually supposed to learn. Also, his handwriting on the board (there are no slides) is impossible to read.

Comment:
Fillipo Sabetti is an overly difficult professor with an esoteric grading system that borders on unfair. He expects very specific answers despite presenting questions as opinion based or requiring critical thinking. What he actually wants is for students to restate what he said in class, despite the rambling nature of his lectures. Skip his classes

Sabetti is one of my favourite profs at McGill. He genuinely cares about his students and is very passionate about teaching. Grading is tough, average for midterm was mid-70s (I think lower) which is surprising given how fair the content was. Lots of readings but not a lot of theory for a poli and they were interesting and tied to lectures

Prof. Sabetti is the cutest man. He really cares about his students and that they are enjoying the class. He is very knowledgeable and I am honoured to have had him as a teacher! One of the only Profs I've had who doesn't make me feel dumb for emailing him.

He is a very passionate professor and takes care that his students are enjoying his class. Just make sure you are engaged in class and go see him! Do the readings, participate in conference and you will do well. He is so knowledgeable so listen clearly since he ideas might come off a little bit scrambled, but just get the big picture!

He's really nice and super helpful if you go to office hours. Just seeing students having an interest in the subject makes him happy. I found the lectures were pretty clear and easy to follow, and he gave a lot of hints for the midterm and final.

This guy is the first prof that I actually like. If you ACTUALLY pay attention to his lectures you will understand. He really tried to get the whole story before presenting the bigger picture. He is hilarious and so passionate it's honestly a pleasure going to his class. Also, very easy and fair final and midterm. Love this guy, best prof at McGill

Professor Sabetti is one of the nicest professors out there. Altough he assigns mountains of readings, you can fairly easily guess what will be in the eaminations. He has vast knowledge and his tangents are always super interesting! You'r McGill Poli-Sci degree cannot be complited without him.

This class requires maximum concentration: even though the professor is a nice guy, he is very unclear and his lectures tend to be boring. The coursepack is way too long.Overall, it is not a difficult class if you stay on track.

Sabetti's a really sweet guy even if he's not the best lecturer and really wants to help his students. The material isn't so hard, and although there are tons of readings, if you actually do them you'll be totally fine in the class. Like one guy said, he tends to go off on tangents but they're really interesting nonetheless!

His lectures aren't unclear. He just goes off tangent at times and it's pretty interesting. The class really isn't hard as most people believe. Just do most of the coursepack readings and you're fine. He might be a bit old and talk slowly, but the guy is one of McGill's hidden genius. If patient, you will be rewarded.

Prof Sabetti is the sweetest prof out there. He is so nice and really wants students to do well. The exams are a lot of work but you learn so much if you actually do the readings. I also had the best TA ever with that class!

I have taken every class Professor Sabetti offers at McGill and have been his research assistant. I strongly advise against taking Poli 211. If you do don't do all the readings. Poli 321 is his best class by far as this is his area of expertise. This was one of my favorite classes. Poli 414 was one of the hardest and covered a lot of material.

Comment:
It's true that Sabetti assigns a huge volume of readings, but they are spread over a period of time as long as 3 weeks. Also, the exams focus on VERY VERY general ideas. You'll be perfectly fine by just skimming. He is not the best lecturer if you don't put enough effort into following his teaching, but if you do, his class is very rewarding.
