Easy class. Frances is fun and engaging. She is an ENGLISH prof people... You read books in English. Profs don't pick easy books. Just read them. Frances is a fan of honesty. She cares more about seeing you read the books in your papers than the actual writing quality. Def would take her class again. Mark was low because of absences.

Everyone in my class agrees that this class is their hardest, with the most homework, and yields the lowest grade of any of their classes. Frances is nice and a very good teacher, but my favorite day of this class was the first day, and it went progressively downhill from there. If I could go back, I would take ANYTHING else besides this class.

Frances was amazing! Discussions inclass were insightful and interesting. She didn't take marks off for late assignments, marked fairly, but wasnt always extremely helpful in editing. Final was easy if you paid attention in class, which was well worth attending. I never went to her office hours b/c she helped so much in class. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Awesome teacher, really cares for the success of her students, enjoyable class, some of the texts might seem like a strange choice at first but they are quite interesting once we work through them together jn class ! Super helpful !

Organized. Although I didn't like the book chosen, class discussions were great and encouraged. Very clear in her instructions. Do the work on time and you will be fine! For extra help, go see her in her office, she was extremely helpful and understanding and kind. Learned a tonne in her class.

The absolute worst teacher I have ever had! If I never took Frances Sprouts class I may still be in the BA program. She ruined my university experience with her constant favoritism, poor attendance and atrocious teaching methods. Seemed to get her jollies out of humiliating the non-poetry majors. PLEASE RETIRE FRANCES AND DO US ALL A FAVOR!!

Worst teacher I ever had. More interested in using students as classroom examples than ensuring their success. Should be fired for her narrow minded opinions, condescending attitude, lack of attendance, and for exhibiting obvious favoritism. If you want to succeed in school,do not take her class, their are far better teachers at VIU!

She came across as wanting to be discussion oriented but would answer her own questions before the class had a chance to reply, a talking head. It annoyed me when she gave preference to certain students because of background even though it worked in my favour. Seems to have a case of "settlers guilt"

Very good professor. Classes are really interesting and enjoyable. Learned a lot about West Coast lit & one of the best English classes I have had to date. Would really recommend Frances - she's great and no surprises on exams or assignments!

Frances is awesome she is so personable and caring. she really makes an effort to make class time count so do your reading and be prepared to contribute! She'll go easy on your first paper but then she will ding you for your mistakes so go and get the help that she recomends. She's more than happy to help you and show you how to get better.
