Rest in Peace. Dr. Hagen was a rare example of someone who taught from first hand experience. His knowledge of India and China was built upon more than a text book education. He will be missed.

I was a history student and loved Dr. Hagen's classes - I took the 113-114 sequence with him. Sadly, Dr. Hagen passed away at the end of the spring 2006 semester. He will be sadly missed as a great Frostburg State University professor, especially with his deep interests in Asia (e.g. Japan, China, India, etc...)!

These other "raters" are more like haters! This guy is the resident expert on Asian studies! I took a History of India class, and he invited the entire class to his house and he and his family cooked us a HUGE Indian feast! If you cant handle lectures- go back to community college! Great job, Dr. Hagen!

To call this boring would be an understatement. I seriously would rather watch grass grow than listen to one of his lectures. He talks about China and Asia constantly... begins to make you wish he would just move there already. However, it is a pretty easy A/B if you need a throwaway class. Just bring a pillow and you should be good.

Why does everyone like this guy so much? He doesn't teach at all. He just sits up there and rambles on from topic to topic without any sense of organization. You can never tell what you are supposed to be getting out of the lectures; it's just all S-L-O-W, boring crap. He does seem like a nice man...a little out there in his own world...but nice.

Dr. Hagen is one of the best professors I've ever had. He actually knows and has experienced what he is talking about. His classes aren't too hard and he is always trying to keep you interested with the videos he shows and the stories he tells. Definatly recommended!!

An excellent teacher. You have to read a couple of books, but it's nothing so bad. You have to write a couple papers, but he isn't a very hard grader. Mostly he spends time lecturing and showing videos. This class was very enjoyable and he is probably one of the best professors I've had.

Dr. Hagen is absolutely boring! I agree he talks constantly about China and Asia! He talks about every experience he has that is useless to class; his lectures, honestly, will put you to sleep. Each class he has a movie to watch that I was never able to relate to his lectures, which always, in one way or another, have something to do with Asia!

I absolutely hate this class. He is the most boring person on the face of the earth. All he does is talk about China...not World History. Makes me want to jump off a bridge. Makes me contemplate whether or not college is worth it...that's how bad it is.
