He is a very hard professor, and sometimes not clear on what he is talking about, makes it harder then it needs to be. Learn from my mistake, if u don't understand him by the 2nd-3rd week of class, start reading the book, teach ur self. DO NOT take his class and organic chem. together...BIG MISTAKE, take one of those classes in summer if needed.

Dr. hughes is one of the best professors i have seen at uncc. I donot know about the other ratings but he was a really good teacher, nice personality, and knows really well what he is talking about. I higly recommend him for every body.

Look, I got an A,but it was a horrible horrible experience. He goes out of his way to make difficult confusing questions.I am in upper level courses now with professors that are CLEAR!! What a difference. Horrible at explaining things. Take it with Mckillop

class is the first hard class for biol majors. but get used to it people, this is biology, not psychology. cell biology is the easiest course in modern biology. tha base of the rest. the teacher was good, Hughes is a jerk as a person, but knows his stuff.

He cannot teach and I would not recommend him. He has a constant cough that is annoying. He makes things harder than they need to be and the tests are confusing! I feel like i learned a lot, but my grade did not represent it at all. I made an A in the lab and barely made a C in the class.

This teacher gives crazy tests, but if you have copys of his old tests then its not that bad! if not then you will properly make a C or lower. I made a C on his first test, but on the second I made an A because of his old tests.I had the same study habits.This class will not help you learn anything!

My best advice is not to take this man for any classes. He simply cannot lecture. The beer-saturation analogy was the worst. If you want a good Cell instructor, take Dr. Anguita!
