Comment:
A very knowledgable professor overall, but can make classes unnecessarily boring and difficult. Tends to talk quite slow and drag on simple concepts. Also, does not encourage class-discussion much which is a bummer for such an interesting subject! That being said, he is a very kind and caring guy.

Francis was always available when extra help was needed. Lectures and assignment criteria were occasionally hard to follow or unclear. Seems genuinely passionate about what he teaches and will gladly provide extra help

Comment:
Worst prof I've had at Camosun. His English is incredibly hard to understand given his strong accent and speech impediment. Assignments are confusingly written and his grading criteria isn't clear at all. He docked me marks on the final exam because he didn't know a word I'd correctly used. I had to fight to get the marks back. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

For a man who claims to be a humanitarian, I've never had a prof with such little regard for another human. If you have any mental illness, do NOT take classes with him. He requires you to present the final project in front of the entire class, no exceptions. When I expressed to him that I have severe anxiety, his answer was basically "too bad".

Comment:
Lectures are hard to sit through, long and droning and the language barrier sometimes makes it hard to understand. Grade is based mostly off the end of the term project which is fine, but it makes sitting through lectures pretty tough knowing the exams don't make up a significant part of your grade.

I was looking forward to this class prior to taking it. The worst class I have had so far, Francis is very difficult to understand, not just his accent but also has a speech impedement. A few times he opened the class up for group discussions, only to tell students that they wrong. Smart man, but shouldn't be teaching. I will not take again, ever.

Francis is such a nice guy. His lectures are a bit dull, but he is very organized and makes his class easy to follow along. He is incredibly helpful in his office hours. He gives you all the exam questions prior to writing them, so you can easily prepare and do well on exams. He is, however, a fairly picky marker. Overall a really nice prof.

Everything you need for this class can be found on his D2L site and in your textbook; use those resources. Francis Yee is a wonderful person, a humanitarian, he is organized, and driven. He is quiet with a accent that can make understanding him difficult. Tests are designed in an answer 2 out of three questions he tells you questions ahead of time.

Human geography with Yee was fun because I'm passionate about volunteer work and Yee did tons of that. However, the lecture was dull but he is such a kind-hearted man that it didn't matter. Make sure on exams such as essays that you explain what you mean in every unfamiliar word. Clarity is important! This man is involved with many humanity

Francis is a great teacher & he's very nice. He uses power point & is well organized. Very helpful & clear. However, you must attend classes if you don't use or have the text book. He doesn't post his power points on D2L. Do lab assignments, study, do well for presentation & you will pass his course.

Yee is a great prof, but his lectures lack interest. Test and labs are easy, but he marked really hard on the final project. If you can stand to attend class he will hand out bonus marks. The textbook is a waste of time.

I took Francis's online Human Geography course. Francis is a very kind, helpful and patient man, and extremely intelligent and experienced. I liked his assignments and his tests, and when I fell behind because of work, he assisted me in getting back on track.

Francis Yee is a really nice teacher. I didn't have a hard time understanding him once you are a week or two in. He knows his stuff very well, and I thought his feedback on questions during class was very good. His midterms are not hard, and his labs are not difficult either. Definitely not the worst teacher like some of the other posts say.

F. Yee is kind, patient, and understanding. However, I couldn't understand him (he is soft-spoken with a VERY thick accent. I was often unable to get a clear answer from him if I needed clarification on an assignment and his feedback on exams was not constructive. There was very little critical thinking and/or discussion; just memorizing slides.

I feel bad reading some of these comments about him. I hope he doesn't see them. He's a nice guy, although he can be really rude to someone if they're talking in class. He has a thick Chinese accent. I can understand him but others can't. The class is boring and you never get out early but it's school, so whatever. Also, he makes a lot of typos.

Great guy, not that good of a teacher. He can be hard to understand sometimes. Critical thinking isn't necessarily promoted in the class, just memorization of lectures.
