He expects you to come to class knowing the material already and assumes everyone has the same background knowledge. Spends the whole class time talking and allows no interaction. Does 1-2 practice problems on each topic that are fairly easy, then throws a curveball on quizzes and the final. Highly advise against him, worst teacher I've ever had

Very nice soft spoken professor but not very good at explaining anything. Class is extremely lecture heavy so be prepared to write a lot. Quizzes every 2 weeks with a maximum time limit of 30 minutes. Material is difficult so you will need to teach yourself outside of class. Textbook is not mandatory but might help.

Study the HW problems he does in class, do all of the discussion posts, skip 2 classes max, don't slack off, and you should be fine. 2 online quizzes, just find friends to do them with. 4 in-class quizzes that are okay, but the final was straight-forward (cheat sheet allowed). An okay teacher, but you do have to put in effort for a good grade.

You need to invest a lot of time outside of class unless you already know probability and statistics. Smart professor but way too much material to remember. Final consist of a cheat-sheet, but that doesn't help because way too much material to fit on one page. Very fast pace. Speak very soft. I love math but I hated this course.

The required textbook is CONFUSING AS HELLl. I didn't learn much from reading it. I had to go online or youtube to get a better understand of the material. HE ISN'T VERY HELPFUL AND IS RUDE. Got UPSET because I posted outside sources on the discussion board. ONLINE EXAMS WERE EXTREMELY HARD. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROF IF YOU NOT VERY GOOD IN MATH

He's really a great guy and an excellent mathematician. If you are looking to learn, this is the professor you want. He's very keen and precise with his teaching. If you're looking for a math course to just get through, I would not recommend him.

Not happy. Only reason I passed was homework. I'm not a strong programmer, but I put in a lot of effort and pulled a lot of sleepless nights to try to understand what he rushed through. He helps you when you approach him, but the tests are different than the homework concepts. Servas, give study guides. We don't know what you don't teach.

Easily the worst professor I have had within my 3 year span at SJU. Doesn't respond to emails, quizzes are insanely hard, talks way more than he should about nonsense...AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. HE IS A GPA KILLER!

I have no idea why people are complaining about this guy. He explains things in through detail and he WILL make sure you understand something if you ask! I get that he can seem a bit hard because he uses mathematical terms and what not, but come on he explains it all before hand and you're an adult at this point. Never studied more than 3 hours!!!!

Servas...Well he's a person based almost solely on math. So if you're taking him for CUS expect a lot of math there too. Difficult exams, they are similar yet completely different to the class work. Weekly homework assignments, start off easy get progressively more difficult without much help understanding them. Avoid if you can, not a good 1.

Very boring class and monotone professor but very helpful. Weekly programming hw's but not too difficult. He gives around 3 tests and a final and that with the hw is your grade. Textbook is really only necessary if you want to read and better learn what he teaches. Not hard to do good but the few tests and hw are your grade. No participation or EC

This professor is the worst professor I have had so far. St.John's should be ashamed to have a professor who is so incompetent. Rambles on during class, does not explain anything. Does not review for exam and grades unfairly. If you want to do well in your major in CUS please avoid this professor. YOU WILL LOSE ALL INTEREST IF YOU TAKE HIM.

Take him! Such an excellent professor. He explains everything in a crystal clear manner. This guy went to Columbia University, so he knows what he is talking about! He goes over every bit of detail and tells you what mistakes students often make. He gives clear notes. Programming is easy when you take him! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

In all honesty, he is not a very clear professor. He often talks more then is necessary and can lose students that way. I've had him for two different courses and he lost me in both, while taking the next level with different profs, i started doing really well. I'd avoid him...

Honestly he is not that bad as some said. he likes to talk a lot i mean a lot. But u can ignore some of his nonsense but when he is writing the program with u in class he is very patient. He go over every little detail and mistakes students often make. He gives notes and practices writing program a lot in class. he makes programming easy!

He's a pretty good professor surprised at all the negative comments. It's true he doesn't teach well to those new to computer science but if you care and just study you'll do fine. He's really nice and helpful if you have trouble.

The ratings here are horrible but this professor is REALLLY goood. I used to hate calculus and rite now, i have an A in the class. He explains everything and even tho he says he doesnt give extra credit, he gives a lil bit on the exams. There are 4exams. Just go to class and do the work and you'll be fine

I thought this class was really easy, but then again I already had a foundation in programming in high school. Tests were simple enough, hw was straightforward, but he doesn't teach well to people who are new to comp sci.
