he's a nice guy, really, but teaching is not his thing. I've had to take his classes multiple times because i'm majoring in his department and i hate it every time. his classes are so dry and boring and his lectures are terribly organized. No assignments, your marks only come from tests so good luck

Honestly, an awful teacher. If you don't have to take the class then don't. For those that are required to take it, DONT STUDY HIS LECTURES. I have an 80 in the class because i studied from the textbook. Thats the only way to pass

This was the worst class ever. DO NOT TAKE. This class was offered to non-science majors and I am a science major (with 95 average) and I still found it impossible. Questions on the test were not based off lecture and were not even in the book--the information came from no where so you had to guess. Seriously, do not take a class with him ever.

Simpson was a great teacher, who knew his stuff. If you're in is class read the textbook. His lectures can be dry, but he's passionate about what he's teaching. He also always asked us if we needed anything, or wanted anything clarified. Great teacher!

Frank really knew his stuff, although he spoke to us like we did as well. He often used confusing unfamiliar terminology which made following his lectures difficult. He was a really nice guy who constantly offered help, however I found the tests covered topics we didn't cover in class or in the textbook which makes you have to guess.

Lectures are long. This professor has a fantastic knowledge of the information, the problem is that the students do not. He talks to the class as if we know all of the terminology. We do not have PHD's and we do not have years of field work experience. The notes he posts are point form, not informative what so ever. You need to teach yourself.

Awful prof, worst I have ever had at the University. I did well in his class, but his teaching methods are absolutely brutal. He just talks about nonsense for 90 minutes and gets mad if you don't show up. There is no point in showing up, you just basically guess on his exams. I learnt nothing and did above average in his class, awful prof.

Nice guy. Very long lectures early in the morning. If you skip, the next time you show up he will guilt trip you about why you weren't in class. Two midterms and one exam, all multiple choice. Easy B.

Almost nothing talked about in class is covered on exams. Exam questions are irrelevant and random. He is outdated in learning techniques, information and English. His vocabulary is confusing and improper. Avoid at all costs. Bring in new people UWindsor.

Worst professor I have had at the university. Even though extremely open to assist, his exams make no sense. 50 random MC trivia. No grade curving, extra credit, or ability to view exams (he uses questions over again the next year). Class is difficult to sit in (very boring). DON'T BUY TEXTBOOK. JUST USE HIS MATERIAL.

Frank is very helpful and knowledgeable about earth science topics and his reference from field work in lecture is awesome. He provides context to everything he says. He gives you lists of websites where you can find employment, not may profs go that far.

I took this course as an optional out of interest. I found his 50 min lectures a complete bore. He does not use powerpoints. He slurs and deliberately speaks very slowly. When I asked him about the course being "for the non-scientist" (as described in the course search) he started telling me about average class marks. I ended up dropping. Good luck

Seriously didn't expect these reviews to be so brutal. I'm in Enviro. Studies & took several of Simpson's Geology classes. Yeah, they're not the most engaging lectures to sit through but he has an insane amount of field experience which he talks about using specific examples. Every class is easy & just mc exams with no assignments. You'll be fine.

Awful prof. Ive had to take 3 of his courses because its required and he's the only one that teaches them. I sit through lectures and never take a single note, he's terrible. He hands out notes that have no basis for anything. And all the info on his MC choice exams have nothing to do with lectures. Reading text you can manage but don't expect an A

I was sooscared for his class after reading these comments. Honestly, he's not that bad or scary or anything. It's not a tough class, a lot of people skip lectures but they're not that bad really. For Geology & the Environment - just read the appropriate textbook sections before the exams and you will do well. Don't be freaked out by these reviews.

This man is an awful professor. The course I took was mandatory for my degree and most of the stuff Simpson taught I am never going to use. His information is outdated, the handouts he gives to students is handwritten and is illegible AND I don't think he even knows what he is talking about sometimes.

This man is a bit of a jerk.. last week we had a midterm and my backpack was in the aisle. When he came around, before he handed them out, he told me i had to move my backpack and actually kicked my backpack pretty hard to the side. It wasnt just a tap or a slide, he physically booted my backpack which had my laptop inside. I was actually furious
