Comment:
Probably extremely sarcastic, but poor wording makes him look like a jerk. Spends his lectures talking about his personal experiences, never supplies practice problems nor practices questions. Says to look at the book for practice but the book doesn't have a correction key. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Exams don't represent the learned content.

Very condescending and rude, in office hours and in lectures sometimes. Makes you not want to see him again. He is very knowledgeable and the topics he covers can be interesting, but the attitude is off-putting at times. He just doesn't seem to care about the students as much as the topic he covers.

Great prof who really has a passion for development economics. Sometimes a bit eccentric but his enthusiasm for economics really kept me engaged in class. Really liked how to class focused on looking at case studies and how they did or did not work. I recommend going to class, he says some insightful things

He is prolly among the good economists since he is excellent at what he is doing and im pretty sure he is fairly recognized at least in his field. But he totally fails at teaching. Dont know about undergrad... but AVOID in master program. If you want to pick development as your field, gtfo of McGill and find another University or change field.

The guy has an attitude, but take this with a grain of salt, he's (almost) hillarious! As far as the workload goes, it's ok, just focus on reading what he talks about in class and you'll be fine. He's a very fair grader and encourages discussion (rare thing at mcgill...)

If you dont mind reading or working hard this prof is for you. He is not an easy marker but he is fair. some people dont like his attitude (i think he's fuc*in hysterical). He cares and knows his the material, his lectures are interesting and i can honestly say he gave me a new outlook on poverty.

Prof. Grimmard has an effing attitude, but boy does he know he stuff. He lvoes to be a teacher and loves his field, a rarity today and at McGill. Very opinionated (yay free trade) but VERY open to INTELIGENT discussion. One of the BEst professors I have ever had.

Grimard is an ass and openly admits to it. His lectures are clear and almost straight from the text. The exams are brutally difficult (the mid-term avg. was 51%). The textbook is the best part of this course. My advice? Try to get into the other section.

ditto with all of the previous comments. i had gone to his office hours a couple of times, and i swore off going to see him again because he is so god damn condescending!! he seems to be bitter about teaching at mcgill instead of his beloved princeton or whatever school he came from

overall bad prof, disorganized lectures, awkward lectures. Also has the disturbing habit of pointing a remote control at somebody when that person does not speak loudly enough, to increase the volume...yeah. I hear the other prof is not much better though...

Worst teacher Ive ever had. Refuses to beleive that the class average of 48% has anything to do with his horrible teaching style. Self-proclaimed S.O.B. Dont expect him to care about you since he makes excuses like "ill put the syllabus online if the kids arent sick tonight" in a condescending way. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Many people have say he's arrogant - more to the point, he's mean-spirited and will make snide comments to people's faces, also: one of t´he most unclear, disorganized presenters I've ever met-avoid at all costs!!!!

He's tricky...he doesn't care if you do the readings or not, but he'll nail you on the exam if you don't. His assignments are ridiculously long, but at least they're different than most econ assignments. Well informed, just not that interesting
