I just finished the semester and I can safely say it was the worst class I have ever taken. It did not help me with any part of the transition from high school to college (which is what first year seminars are meant for) and she is such a tough grader. I had A's and B+ in every class but hers. She gives out like 2 papers a week. She is awful.

I'm on week 5 and i already regret taking this professor this subject isn't interesting, and she is making it less so. she hasn't graded anything and keeps claiming I'm submitting word documents as PDFs so she can't grade it (despite my first assignment having her comments at the end of it). AVOID THIS PROFESSOR LIKE THE PLAGUE NO MATTER THE TOPIC!

Dr. Agbajoh-Laoye was indifferent towards her students. She didn't make herself available before/after class and gave no guidance on her grading system, which makes me question whether it is even legit. She was among the poorest instructors that I had at MU and it makes me think less of my degree that she's still employed by them. MU can do better.

Dont even think about signing up, currently taking American Ethnic Lives for ISP requirement and regret it daily. This woman is on another planet, literally gives almost zero guidelines in terms of what she wants on her papers, talks the WHOLE time. she thinks shes doing you a favor by giving a "take home midterm" which is just a 10 page essay. RUN

She is very interested in class she teaches, but is very unorganized. She did not grade 90% of the assignments until the last day of the semester so you have no idea if you are passing or not. The instructions on exams and papers are not clear one bit so have to wing it. I tried so hard and still didn't get a great grade. Most stressful class ever!

Absolutely abysmal professor. Her grading system is incredibly arbitrary and when you ask what you can do to improve should you get a poor grade on something she's very vague and not helpful. That is, if she ever even posts your grade. Hard to know how you're doing in class when she posts grades very late. Also never responds to emails. Ever.

Dr. Agbajoh is an interesting andy and very cultured. She is interesting and knows her stuff, however, she takes FOREVER to grade. Then months later she will give you a grade and no chance to make it up.

Professor Laoye was extremely unclear with all assignments. She grades very tough and pushes every student to their absolute limit. It is essential to ask questions repeatedly about assignments because directions are poorly written. I wouldn't take the class again, but she definitely improved my work ethic.

She really does care about her students, you just have to show her that you care too. It's a pretty easy class. Ishes willing to help you if you don't understand the material, just don't ask during her class. To be honest you technically don't need the textbooks to pass but she wants you to bring it to every class. Don't bother bringing your laptop

Only halfway through the semester and I already dislike her. Even worse, I don't respect her at all as a teacher. Makes us present so she doesn't have to lecture. Zero clarity or consistency on assignments. Complains about how much "work" she has to do. Anything I've learned so far was thanks to my own researchreading and my classmates' help.

Miserable. Legitimately my worst experience at MU. She didn't show up half the time, never responded to email. And somehow had no understanding of citations & attempted to say that during a group project the entire group plagiarized (we didn't) we had to go to the head of dept to get it cleared up.

This teacher is the worst I've had at Monmouth. She is used to teaching grad students...not undergrads that arent ENGLISH majors!! She is VERY difficult to understand and talks the whole class (to herself.) She is pretty rude and does not answer questions and is very short! I was put in this class by the school bc my other class got dropped! AVOID!

Professor has high standards which she fails to communicate to the class. Emails go unanswered, projects remain ungraded until the end of term, she cancelled 2 classes out of 15. Often, classtime is filled with student presentations while she stands there, NOT TEACHING. AVOID IF YOU CAN BECAUSE IMO, YOU WON'T GET YOUR MONEY"S WORTH.

This class was terrible. I found the subject matter interesting, however, this class was extremely frustrating. I have no idea how she grades what we write, I really feel like she just gives out random grades. She showed up late for our final and did not even have the tests with her, she had to leave to go print them. Expect to spend hours reading.

one of the hardest graders for english i ever had. i even went to the writing center and still did not get good grade. Also she takes forever to grade things and does not get back to you until forever after with stuff. pretty hard to understand and did not really agree with the students on much
