this teacher is absolutely ridiculous...none of his lectures have any structure and he makes no sense whatsoever. The people below me have it right, if you want to do well, don't buy the book, just use Google and Wikipedia. He expects everyone in the class to have taken a Geology class prior to his and doesn't understand when people don't get it

The other GEO105 posting are dead-on..Its a complete waste of a class. His lectures contain no substance and then he tests on the lectures..STAY AWAY unless you know a lot about geology or prepared to work EXTREMELY hard to know what he is talking about...should have dropped while I could have.

Garry, I believe has a good heart. But the class is a complete joke. Absolutely no structure for topics. It is impossible to articulate the uselessness his lectures are. Better off simply reading the book. The T.A. stopped coming to lecture stating,"I don't know what's going on in here, so I don't come."

Awful. Literally the worst professor I have ever had. Completely and utterly ridiculous. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN. He expects you to already know everything about geology. He talks to you as if you were one of his colleagues. Quizzes feel like midterms and the midterms are way to hard for a GEC class. AWFUL.

Garry isn't that great. Hard to follow in lecture, and his exams are ridiculously hard and specific. For a 200 level GEC he doesn't make it the easy A it should be. He just mails in every lecture, and I'd encourage you to mail in this class as well-I did and somehow wound up w/ a B b/c i think he generously curves the class at the end.

He's a good guy. His lectures aren't thrilling, but the subject matter is definitely interesting and worthwhile. Tests aren't too bad, just study previous quizzes and midterms before the final. I got an A without too much work.

Good teacher. To my surprise, I actually found some of the course really interesting. Could be really boring at times though. The exams were pretty easy, got an A without much effort- only crammed the night before and the morning of for exams.

Class can be very boring at times. But McKenzie is very passionate about the subject matter. My only real complaint other than being bored at times is that he is quite disorganized. But I would say all in all he isn't bad.

Garry is an extremely nice guy. He gave us cookies during our final. The subject matter and the lecs were very interesting. Yes, he was a little dissorganized, but that didn't really matter since he made it clear what topics were important to focus on for tests and such. Thumbs up for this cool Canadian!
