Very funny guy. He makes lectures interesting and is genuinely passionate about the subject. He can get pretty off topic and go on tangents and it takes him awhile to finish things, but he makes the class fun and gets you invested in the readings. Can be a bit crude but personally I found that it made the class a bit more fun. Would take him again

Garry is an amazing prof. I struggled with my first class so retook English 100. Garry made for a class that you could look forward too. I don't like English nor is it my strong suit but he really made sure I knew what I was doing. Hw would get excited when you would ask him for help. I would take any class again with him in a heartbeat! best prof

Not an awful teacher but comes off as offensive quite often. Makes borderline sexist jokes. Tends to say creepy things about females/ towards the females in class. Really not a horrible person but just doesn't understand what's appropriate to say.

Garry is such a great professor! You can tell he really cares about his students and their grades. He does go off topic quite easily however everything you do learn is very useful in everyday life. I don't recommend missing class, he goes into significant detail about each text you read, its very helpful. He made English 100 a breeze!

Garry was an absolute gem. He really knows what he is talking about, however this can often lead to straying a bit off topic, and in our case this put our class way behind schedule and a lot had to be cut out. That being said Garry will entertain in every class and you will come away having learned a lot, highly recommend

He was an amazing guy but was unorganized in timing the required readings for our class. We weren't able to get through all of them, and still put questions on the exam afterward. If you are a good listener, you will pass his class no problem. If you are not, then reconsider taking a lecture from him until you've practiced your note-taking skills.

Took his 110 class on Menippean satire. Wild lectures, really hammers out what he thinks are important points, so you can't just read the book, you have to listen to what he says. However, if you do that, you're golden.

Garry is awesome. He can make you feel a little uncomfortable by what he has to say, but he sure knows how to get his message across. I laugh every class and he remembers his students. He has no trouble having a conversation about life if you meet him in the halls. 10 out of 10, would take a class from him again.

This man is brilliant. What I learned in his class has helped shape my entire academic career and he was a significant feminist role model for me. Five years later, at the end of my Masters program, I am still pulling out and integrating pieces from his lectures. Look elsewhere for an easy "A", but real academics will get their money's worth here.

As much as I think he's a nice guy, I found he often repeated the same stories and material in class. He is a pretty relaxed professors in terms of grading and deadlines, but the actual content of the class was boring.

If you want to know the meaning of life take his ENGL399 Literary Theory class or any of his classes. It doesn't matter which faculty you are in. Everyone can learn from Garry. I highly recommend his Shakespeare and his Literary Theory classes they'll change the way you see things. If you visit him during his office hours or after class he'll help.

Garry is always an absolute pleasure. Sometimes he uses language that a student might find offensive, but at the forefront, he is a feminist and really respects everyone. He's willing to read your entire essay before you hand it in so that you can adjust it accordingly.

Where do I begin... Garry is by far the most approachable English professor at the UofR. He's clever, entertaining and charming. He does make you work hard for a grade of 80 percent or higher, but his classes are well worth signing up for. He is well versed in the subject matter he teaches. Take a course with him. I promise you will not regret it!

Definitely one of the best profs I've had at the university. He is pretty clear with his assignments and exams. He is always willing to meet with you if you need help. He marks kind of hard but he is fair. He is also really really entertaining. Id take every class I could with him. Really really great prof! He made Shakespeare enjoyable.

Un believable prof. I have taken all the classes that Garry has offered and wish I could have taken more. Best prof in the university by far. No one else in the faculty even comes close. Purnis, Melhoff or Baumann can't hold a candle to Garry. You don't even need to read the course subject he is so knowledgeable. Show up to class is all you need.

Garry is probably one of the best professors I have had the fortune to have at the University of Regina. He is extremely knowledgable, stimulates thought provoking discussions, and is HILARIOUS and thoroughly entertaining. Furthermore, he genuinely cares about his students and will encourage them to do the best they can. Garry rules.
