Textbooks really arent required. Go to every class and pay at least half attention to the film he shows and have a basic understanding of propaganda and you can earn an A. The course isnt stressful as long as you dont procrastinate!

One of the coolest teachers you could have. Every class is pretty much just a discussion on communications and media then you watch some old movie or documentary on the history of TV. 3 exams which are just essays that have to be 3,000 words I believe, and he grades them basically on completion. Easy A

I took his COMM4397 class, so we watched Hitchcock films every class. The class was very easy. The course consisted of 4 Film analysis, and a term paper or Take home Test. Also, there is no textbook, just a 700+ page biography of Hitchcock you have to read. He is very knowledgable of Hitchcock's films, and teaches you to analyze films

Unless you wait until the last minute this class is fairly easy. The class consists of several "take home tests". The take home test questions are decided by the class or randomly selected. Each take home test has 3 questions that have to have 4 page essay responses. The class itself doesn't help you with the tests you just need to read the book.

Easy A. Prefers opinionated essays over factual ones, but of course, must include facts and reflect on things shown/taught in class. Attendance isn't mandatory. Really nice, interesting guy. I enjoyed this class a lot and learned most from him

Two film analysis & a take home final. You will write the entire semester, however, the internet is very helpful & the books he assigns will help a lot with the topics you must explain in each analysis. If you do not procrastinate and put in a little effort, this class should be an easy A. Attendance not mandatory. I personally enjoyed his class.

take him EASY A! attendance not mandatory! does not take attendance...watched movies every class. you have to turn in 6 film analyses (you can seriously lookup film reviews online to do this instead of going to class) and then there was a take home final...you cannot fail this class if you tried.

We watched documentaries every class. Attendance not mandatory. You have 2 take home tests and 1 case analysis. Case analysis should be 15-25 pgs. Take home tests are 2-3 ?'s and should answer 1000 words each ?. Use critical thinking,and write more if possible. Not difficult, but be prepared to answer thoroughly and plan enough time for papers.

He doesn't go over the book info in class because he says he wants to treat the students as adults, which is pretty cool. The workload isn't bad. For the papers and the exams all you have to do is prove to have knowledge of the material, (but he hates when people copy from the book) have their own opinions and support them. Use outside sources!

Comment:

Very passionate about his class. Each lecture is a documentary about propaganda, most of them very interesting. Two take home essay exams and a Case Study. Emphasis on crtical thinking. The writing may seem hard at first, but if you prepare for them, then they are not as hard. Set minimum of pages, but going above that will show your thoughts.
