Comment:

Garth is a very passionate professor. I have taken both Research Methods and now Media, Technology and the Environment with him. Truthfully, I do not often attend lectures due to his habit of being off topic, but his exams and projects are easy enough to complete and do well on without attending class regularly. Very considerate of students needs.

I feel terrible for not liking this prof. He is clearly passionate about his subject matter and must be fairly knowledgeable to have taught in this field for so long, but I just can't deal with him. He goes off topic and says "uh" and "um" a lot, so much so that it is distracting to me as a student to try and understand his point.

I have nothing but positive comments about Garth Rennie. Although he seems like he is rambling on, there is a method to his madness - you just have to be intellectual enough to stay engaged. He is generous with offering help to his students and is most fair when is comes to evaluations. Greatest professor at the University of Windsor.

Dr. Rennie, although very knowledge about the subject matter, was unorganized and unfocused during his lectures. He often went off on tangents and maybe got through 5 slides of a 40-slide powerpoint. It was difficult to stay engaged during the class. It was easy to get good marks though, as he and the Graduate Assistant were very fair markers!

Took both Research Methods & Popular Music with Garth. Very great person, but not a very great professor. Just gets way too into whatever is happening in the news that day and goes off on tangents about it. He will make a 30 slide powerpoint and only get to slide 5, leaving you to decipher the other 25. For Research, your GA is your saving grace.

Garth is a good prof but and even better guy. He's very eccentric, his positivity is contagious. Yes, he does go off on tangents. Yes, he does have a time management problem. But he is truly passionate and knowledgeable. His "ramblings" DO make sense! You just have to really engage yourself, and pretty much hang off his every word.

Dr. Rennie is fair. He may sonetimes get off track as others here gave said, but if you watch and listen closely, you will find yourself in the presence of genius. So, yes, he will teach you patience - but so much more than that. Put the cell phones down and be present in his class. You will be hard pressed to find a prof who cares more.

Passionate. Off-track a lot. But, extremely knowledgeable in Comm Theory. One-on-One he's easy to talk with and goes into precise detail. Not many take advantage of that opportunity or they do so too late. His knowledge of music, sci-fi, movies is second to none. Eclectic and eccentric as well.

To sum it up, Garth confuses his class as well as himself at the same time. You may read his slides and say "wow, this seems clear enough" (for the most part). But when in any of his classes, you can't help yourself but get even more confused listening to him talk in circles with jumbled syntax and confusing examples. He makes any class confusing.

Garth Rennie is a very passionate man. He clearly enjoys what he does especially since he is teaching three communication courses this semester, in which I have him in two. Although he is very enthusiastic in what he is teaching, he tends to go on tangents about things that are not relatable. Other than that he is a very nice man who is respectful.

Absolutely awful. Like the majority of the reviews say, Rennie talks in circles, does not teach anything with substance, and overall lacks professionalism and teach-ability. In the three courses I have taken with him I have ended up teaching myself the required information. Unacceptable.

First off, ive never had a class with Garth that did not start at 8:30 am. Second he goes off on the most ridiculous tangents leaving you completely beside yourself. Third, hes the most eccentric prof ive ever met he reminds me of Xenophilius Lovegood. Dont ever miss a class, he takes attendance.
