He is not a terrible teacher. His lectures are interesting but doesn't use power points so you have to write notes as he talks. There are pop quizzes, but he doesn't try to trick you with questions. If you look over your notes for a ten minutes after each class you should do fine. Read the book. If you actually try (just a little) you will do well

Go to the lectures! All of the test questions are from the lectures. Of course you must read your textbook, it makes a difference in understanding the important parts of his lectures. There are 5 pop quizzes and they are pretty easy, questions come from lecture. There are 3 book quizzes the TA's grade those (they grade harder).

Only need to go for pop quizzes, his lectures are boring and useless. Midterm and final are over the text book. Pop quizzes over the lecture. EASY to cheat.

Classes were often boring. Had to sit closer to hear him. His lectures were sometimes interesting, but I only kept notes for his "drop quizzes". The tests are based on the text book though. So the difficulty of the class really depends on the TAs.

Grad course at mildenhall. Class was not that great, but not hard. I did all the reading and spent a while researching in hopes of getting something out of the class. The teacher is a bore and doesn't care what you learn. I didn't feel he cared. Interesting subect though, war crimes. I got an A, based on the final paper, the research was fun.

he is a good teacher. You can hear him more clearly if you sit closer to where he stands. class is not too bad if you pay attention. go to class so that you dont miss the pop quizzes. the TAs give the material to read for the midterm and final. if you read that you will do great

Dr. Anderson definitely knows what he is talking about, but has a tendancy to make the material too complicated and tiresome for undergraduate students. The midterm was something out of hell, but the final was actually quite passable. I definitely recomend attending the review sessions prior to these exams, as well as EVERY CLASS. READ THE TEXTBOOK

He stood at the front of the class and talked with no visual aids for an hour and fifteen minutes so if you're a audio learner that's great. His curriculum is hard but there is opportunity to gain an extra 20/225 points. there is just one midterm and final with pop quizzes

T.A.'s do most of the work. He was hardly there so sometimes the T.A.'s lecture but when he is there its usually pretty interesting. Not to hard of a class as long as you read the books and study before the test.

the t.a.s do everything, so a lot depends on them. the quizes were the hardest part of the class.and it makes it difficult be you don't have many grades during the semester

Comment:
He has the capability to keep one's interest, but often fails to invoke it. Like many history teachers, he can go off onto tangents--not always a bad thing, if said tangent is relevant--doing so often enough to cause problems with note-taking. TAs handle the quizzes and such, so quizzes often have irrelevant or troublesome questions.

Annoying and uninformative. Grades are done on a curve, not a point scale. The TAs do everything, only listen to them. Boring if you've had a real history teacher before.

He has pop quizzes to keep you honest on attendance but if you come and take notes (Don't buy the book, he teaches his own material) you will make an A. He made us read 3 books, I would read the first 5 pages, middle 5, then last 5 and quote it. TA's were asses though. He cried in class once...
