Dr. Stockdale has difficulty with writing down clear instructions on assignments online and on the syllabus and for the final project in this class that is required to pass, Dr. Stockdale did not write down the requirements for the assignment. Most assignments are found only on the syllabus and Canvas will be useless to you in this class. Be there.

The group projects are weighted very high and have equally high expectations. An essay is due every week ,sometimes two a week. Most of the available points come from the final and group projects, making the numerous essays somewhat null.

Awesome professor. She is super insightful and she really knows what she is teaching. Easily one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. Super kind and she always gives good feedback on essays and is a fair grader. Definitely take her for any class!

I have taken 3 of her classes and liked them all. There is good or reading but the reading is usually interested. The quizzes on the reading are also very easy. The final and midterm are tough but she gives you a study guide that tells you exactly what will be on the test. She is pretty generous when it comes to grading the writing assignments.

Comment:

One of the rare few who can take a subject you care nothing about and get you engaged and interested. Not an angry grader and will give you actual feedback as to what you did well and what could be done better. Originally finished with a B but she later bumped me up to an A for "strong participation." Very accessible, understanding and fair.

Capitalism & Socialism, team-taught w/ Holguin. Stockdale is very personable and helpful, always remembered my name, lectures were engaging. There was a Midterm paper, paper, and an in-class (3 part) essay final. Had to buy like 6 small books, quizzes over LONG readings. The class was very difficult and I'm thrilled to have pulled out a B.

Wonderful Professor, her lectures are always interesting. The format of her classes are always the same, book quiz over most of the books you buy and a midterm, paper and final. There is a study guide for everything except the paper. The tests will be just like the guides.

I heard Dr. Stockdale when she was a guest lecture & I knew that I had to have her as a professor. Extremely insightful in her subject area and wonderful lecture- she brings history to life in a good way. The work load is tough if you fall behind but she offers extra credit and understands that not everyone wants to be a historian- very personable

Excellent professor. I took this class with little to no knowledge about Russia, but came away feeling very informed and actually enjoyed the class too. It was challenging; you definitely have to do the reading. I studied a lot to get an A. Expect to work for your grade, but gain a lot of knowledge from an exceptional professor.

I highly recommend Dr. Stockdale. She was an interesting lecturer, and was committed to helping her students do well in her course. Non-history majors may find her classes overly technical, and she expects excellent writing quality. Her papers are tough, especially because she assigns a maximum length of two pages for very broad topics.

She is a great professor! This was my 2nd class I took with her, the format was the same. She gives you study guides for each book quiz and exam and it's literally the questions that will be on the quiz and exam. She does a fantastic job teaching, very passionate in the subject. Only downside is that grades never come in on time. Still love her.

Great teacher! Make sure you attend every lecture, counts as extra credit at end of year, and it is always intersting. Best lecturer in HIST department. Only bad part is she grades randomly with no rubric. Take this class.

I love history, but dreaded this class. The material is really interesting, but I found Dr. Stockdale to be too critical in her grading and impossible to impress. She doesn't post grades to D2L and gives back grades such as A/B+, so don't count on knowing your grade. Recommend the course but not the professor.

Imperial Russia class. She knows more than anyone i have ever had at OU. She is awesome. She is the best teacher I ever had and I almost had to kill myself to get a damn b-. but i have no regrets. THE BEST. LOVE HER. Harvard! Wow!

I had Stockdale for Soviet history and history of the Bolshevik rev. These classes were great! Stockdale is an awesome lecturer and she really knows her stuff. Definitely one of my favorite profs.

One of the best classes and best teachers I've ever had. I never missed and loved every day. You learn incredible amounts and enjoy doing it. A very fair and helpful person with papers, tests are reasonable if you do the studying. A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!
