Remarkable teacher! A genuine genius, full of wonder and creativity. Always made time for those of us with questions. You really had to bring something with you to the discussion, however, which explains the comments made by the struggling 1st year calculus students. Meet him half way and he'd blow your mind. Once in a lifetime teacher. Thank you.

Horrible teacher, shows one to two examples from each section and then often ends class up to 20 minutes early. You'll just have to learn from the textbook

He flies through the material only covering one example (from the text book) per section. If you want to do well, you'll be spending a lot of time reading your text.

Miller's definitely entertaining, but the only things I learned in that course, I got out of the textbook. If you're going to be in his class, you have to do a lot of study at home so stay on top of your homework.

Bad. His diagrams were awful and they were so small people in the front row got confused sometimes. He was, on the other hand, quite funny and seemed interested in helping students, BUT TAUGHT OUT OF THE TEXTBOOK :(

Good guy, but not a good teacher. He doesnt explain the material, he just does examples from the text bookand expects you to understand. Really hard midterms. He is always willing to spend class time answering anyones questions

Dr Miller is charming and good to his students, but his midterms are really tough if you don't know your stuff inside out. Stay on top of the homework.

Miller is the man! He is very helpful, always asks if anyone has any questions @ the start of EVERY class. He's always available for help, just make an appt or whatever. PLUS he's funny! Good class for some fun...his voice cracks me up haha

One of my favorite teachers from UVic. You do well because he wants you to. 30 page paper, and I hate writing, but I wrote the paper and STILL loved the class. Highly reccommened if you want to learn something about life. (You learn way more than what the title of the subject is)

Miller is an amazing man. His courses are easy, because he wants you to do well. Getting a hold of old midterms certainly helps. He is also one of the nicest profs at UVic.

miller is the reason you should be at university. his classes are unorthodox so if you need "med school grades" or if you are a boring person, you might not like him. if you go into his classes with an open mind he will blow it wide open. retiri

Tests were somewhat fair, except its only 9-10 multiple choices worth a quantum of 10 marks each. No such things as part marks. Lectures are easy to understand, though it is out of textbook. Office hours are poor. Didn't help when i visited him.

Really great teacher. Not much rigorous work or memory in his class, more like one long discussion of whatever is interesting. Starts every class with 'did anyone have any thoughts today'

Courses are interesting enough, but the more you read on your own, the more his positions on things seem...um...sketchy?incorrect? not sure which. Generally pretty disorganized, and his midterms are always WAY, WAY too long (scales, sort of)

Oustanding - a cross between Mr. Clean and Santa Claus. I highly recommend you take History of Math with him! Very entertaining and inspiring. Did you know he went to art school before he got into math?
