Professor Nair is one of a kind. Having said that, he is quite a challenging professor. There are times when I am utterly inspired by him, and times when he just infuriates me. Work hard, speak your mind, stand your ground, and there will be a mutual respect unlike any other. Special man.

He's always been nice to me. Though I will say, he does not make it easy for you. He has high standards--that's it. I've heard horror stories and I'm sure some of them are true, but I'd bet others are exaggerated. In his private studies though, it's hard because he doesn't accompany you at all, which makes it hard to learn certain pieces.

I've had mixed feelings about Prof Nair but all in all I love him. He has his good and bad days - he's a human like the rest of us. He's very experienced in the field and so passionate about his work. You need to give him a chance and don't be afraid to be a little sassy with him - he likes it.

as an untrained vocalist joining chorale for fun, i found the whole group to be cold and unwelcoming, with the exception of my section leader and chorale president. when i decided to quit and approach him maturely about it he treated me like absolute crap.

You will learn and not even realize that you are. You get the opportunity to learn music that is rare for professional choirs to do. Last semester we performed a Russian piece in Russian that was never before performed in the US.

A life changing professor. Best professor I know at Drew. As for the other posts about auditions, he has students at the auditions with him whose opinion he values. If you're not in you suck. So the stories do get old after the first year SO WHAT.

Berated me about how I had no talent after my orchestra audition- after I had told him, and the orchestra president that I couldn't play the piece. No help whatsoever in regard to questions prior to that about getting audition music. A total jerk.
