You do not learn anything to do with grammar, university apa/mla style or essay structure. If you need to learn those things, do not take this class. Was light on homework. Group projects were painful & if you don't write exactly what she is looking for you will not do well. Her writing is also not legible, Doc should teach woman studies courses!

The class consists of readings, and lots of in-class discussions with mandatory participation. She literally doesn't teach anything the whole semester, and doesn't provide any criteria sheets for her assignments/midterms. Getting a good mark is not impossible but I wouldn't recommend her if you're actually looking to improve your writing skills.

I barely made it through the first class and had to drop it. This was an 1100 level course and "Doc" was talking about "rape" and other sensitive subjects that made everyone uncomfortable. She didn't even have tact enough to say sexual assault. She asks for your opinion but will argue until you agree with hers. Too many negatives to list.

She is very interesting and bases our readings on inequalities in our society. I would certainly take a class with her again! Participation is defiantly your key to a good grade. The only reason I didn't give her a 5/5 is that there is no grading rubric for assignments and sometimes I feel she just pulls random grades out of thin air.

Every class was the same, she talked about the book and then we were done. And none of it had to do with the essay questions she gave us for said book. Overall, I did not enjoy her class.

There is one group project at the end in which there is no clear grading criteria making it difficult. We mostly read articles and analyzed them. We had 1 lecture on how to write an essay and were asked to write a total of 3 (1 research & 2 for exams). Feedback was given on those but it was hard to understand bc of her writing. Not my ideal prof.

Gaye is such a wonderful person. I loved going to her classes and waking up early for her interesting class discussions and debates. Lots of interesting world topics are discussed and it makes you always think of two sides of everything. Not only a wonderful teacher, but an inspiration.

ENG1100 was extremely straight forward and easy. ENG1202 (still in the process) is.. difficult. You have to read four books, do three quizzes, three essays, one final exam essay, and a group project. If you're not on top of your game with the reading and FULLY understanding the books, you'll flunk this course. Oh and 99.9% of the time, she is late.

Although most classes are discussion as long as you pay attention to what aspects she pulls out of the work ei: what's missing, and you write with her views, you'll be okay. She's not organized well and can be really confusing for tests and essays.. Which she marks hard... Just reading for homework

Oh my god. Talk about having an agenda. This liberal professor will twist your words until they suit her. Not to mention, she marks incredibly hard, and disrupts presentations.

Overall, she is a very inspirational prof who comes with lots of experience and knowledge. However, lectures are very long and dry, and her marking of the in-class essays is difficult.. we were asked for new ideas, I gave it and did the worst I ever did in writing.

Lectures were very engaging, but her class criteria is very confusing. For the final group project there were no guidelines and she made no effort to explain it. Her short quizzes were weighed heavily as part of our grade. Class average was terrible. Don't take her if you expect a high grade. She does not respond to emails very often.

she is a very good teacher for English 1100 she has made me a better writer and you dont do much work in class. her class consists of small mulpiple choice worth 10 percent a midterm essay in class worth 20 percent and a research mla style worth 25 percent. she edits people essays in advance and gives good feedback plus there is NO FINAL
