Class genuinely made me interested in social theory. She has a great sense of humor too which made the class interesting.

She is a very unorthodox teacher. Its hard to understand from her lecture what is important and what is not. She also treats her students like children after explaining something, she always assumes that you don't know what she is saying. If you get a good TA in this class, then its worth it. But its all about ur TA.

boring professor. talks SO slow and is not interesting enough to hold your attention. not the easiest genEd course because you have to read along in the book and the chapters are about 40pgs each. the exams aren't bad until the final. a lot of the questions on the final come directly from the book

Literally the worst professor I have ever had. She was very offensive, for example she would mention something about a certain culture then stare at someone of that race/ethnicity. She would have review sessions and not allow people sitting or people she recognized as usually sitting in the front answer or ask any questions.

Horrible class. She very rarely stayed on topic so when the exams came around you had no idea what to do. Her multiple choice questions are pretty much guessing. I learned more about her life than about social theory. She also talks like you are dumb, and talks very show to you. it is painful.

Easy exams, until the final the questions come almost completely from the book. I found lecture to be pretty boring and she can be pretty offensive but I got an awesome TA which made discussions fun. Go to discussion and read the book and you'll be fine.

Professor Tuchman's pretty nice and has an easy lecture. All her powerpoints are online, meaning class is skippable once in a while, and her exams aren't hard as long as you read the book and powerpoints and go to discussion. She's got a lot of funny stories too.

She uses the book a lot. When she is a bad mood, she is aweful and takes it out on the whole class. She's older, but she did tell some pretty interesting stories during lecture. I will agree, discussion was useless but it was a grade booster if you participated. If you need a gen ed, this one is fairly easy, take it.

Gaye Tuchman's voice is closely related to what I believe is like hell multiplied by 1000. You might fall asleep in between each of her words due to the fact that she talks so slow. The class would be interesting had she talked a little faster and didn't require you to read an immense amount of the most boring textbook prior to each class.

Good Teacher. Lectures are fun and interesting, to get a good grade go to the lectures and read the book. The exams are not hard, she tells you what she wants you to know. Discussions are pointless but graded.

Entertaining teacher. I didn't find discussions useful, but the material wasn't that hard. Just read the book over before the test and knew vocab. Extra credit makes easy grades that much more doable. Definitely a good class and a good teacher.

Lectures are pretty pointless. Just know the study guide and you're pretty much guaranteed an A if you have a fair TA grading the essay.

I took her class during the summer '07 and i loved it!!!! her class made me realized how much i liked sociology and prompted me to take it up as a 2nd major. not bad of a professor at all, just do the reading assignments and ask questions when necessary

this professor is very biased and her opinions are always right. the exams are really easy. If you go to class bring your ipod because listening to her nonsense makes you want to sleep. Make sure you go to discussion and you will do fine
