Gene is hilarious! His awesome stories make the class interesting and fun. Definitely one of the better professors! He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. There are 4 speeches and two tests. As long as you do what he says you will be fine! Try to do well on your speeches, as they are a majority of your grade.

Gene is a fun guy. He really emphasizes punctuality so BE ON TIME and don't sit in the back three rows. He loves what he does and offers great feedback of your speeches. There's two tests, 4 speeches, and a couple out of class critiques. Do all the assignments and you pass. Take him and do what he tells you to do and you'll be good.

Dr. Ellis, is a very helpful professor. His class was extremely easy and all you need to do is show up and give a few speeches. There are only two tests which were fairly easy. You only give one speech in front of a large group of people, the rest of them are for about 20 people. He gives excellent feedback at the end of speeches and always helps.

Professor Ellis (or Gene as we call him) was one of the most amazing, outstanding, fun professors I've ever had! He makes class interesting with his crazy stories, and he makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. When you take Professor Ellis's class, you'll never fear public speaking again!

Gene was a great professor and an enjoyable person. He will not tolerate any unprompted classroom disruptions but this is why his classes are easy to follow. He also tells a lot of funny stories and obviously has a passion for what he is teaching.

Gene is a very funny professor, but at times can be a bit rude. I enjoyed his class and did well because I put a lot of effort into it. This is a class you need to work hard on, even though its just speech. He assigns online chapters to read, but never actually mentions them until you have to take a test.

Gene can be really nice & funny, but he is very temperamental. I never knew what mood to expect him in. This was not that big of a deal if you don't get on his bad side. It does seem like he chooses favorites and bases his speech grading on this, & his mood. Only 2 tests, extremely easy. Don't bother reading the textbook online. Attendance crucial.

He is by far the best teacher ever. He wants to get to know everybody and enjoys talking and telling stories. He's really funny. If you talk to him about whats going on, he will help you out. Don't blow things off and listen in class because he is helpful. The textbook is online, but doesn't do much.

I enjoyed my semester with Gene Ellis 100%. He made the class enjoyable and was very easy to talk to or get assistance from. He wants you to do well and makes sure you understand what he is asking for. I would recommend taking his class and would love to have another semester with him.

I hate public speaking with a passion, but this class was actually better than I thought it would be. Nice, funny guy, always around to help, and won't fail you as long as you give your speeches. Attendance is mandatory, but you get the usual 3 freebies. Only 3 graded speeches, plus a midterm and final. Study and you'll be fine!

Ellis is a good teacher, hes funny in lecture and uses good examples of modern things we actually are interested in. Attendance is mandatory but like most profs you get 3 unexcused. Noticed hes not as friendly outside of class very moody and snaps a lot. Overall, not too many problems! Take him!

He is a very funny guy. His exams are a little difficult and he's a hard grader when it comes to speeches. He has a lot of pet peeves and it can be very annoying when he complains. He complains too much, way too much. Attendance is MANDATORY! So make sure you're there in class!

I had him for speech. He is a really great professor and I throughly enjoyed his class. I hate giving speeches, but his energy and enthusiasm was awesome and made giving speeches a whole lot easier. I definately recommend this taking him.

Funny! Makes class lots of fun but is serious about his class. Attendance is mandatory or points off. Very picky with grading speeches; and exams are really hard. U have to read a lot in the text book. Stuff is on the exam that he never even talked about. If u talk to him and get to know him better the easier u can understand what he wants from u.

Does not make you dress up for speeches! We did have to give 2-3 minute speech in front of 100 students but it was better than expected. Was very clear about what he wanted & was very helpful if you need help outside of class. Don't take speech with anyone else!
