He is the best instructor for the first year of chemistry. I was actually not his student, but the other's. But I decided to go his class and kept attendance. His lecture is very clear and well prepared. And most of the exam is best on his lecture, not other professors. Other professors are useless.

Excellent! I really enjoyed his class and how he gave us time to attempt examples before going over the answers. A little intimidating sometimes. He taught everything that was on the exam and gave tons of examples. His notes were online which is very helpful. Too bad he retired after last term.

Great prof. Straightforward in his teaching. If you pay attention in his lectures, you are sure to learn something interesting. Very organized. Doesn't seem like the guy you'd want to approach for a question.

Excellent notes and great examples. Sometimes mumbles and goes too fast. He likes to race with you when doing examples that you've never seen before just to prove that he's cool. Goes around during class to make sure you know what you're doing when practicing examples. Midterm was easy, final was brutal.

oh lordy. baldwin is a goof, he reminds me of a white bill crosby. he does an ok job i guess of teaching 130, but 131 was brutal. his class is very boring, and his examples are not helpful. i hear gauvin is much better, take your chances with him, not this douchbag.

Was a terrible prof for physical chemistry. Specifically tried to screw you over on both the midterm and final.

Taught the first chemm extremely well and provided excellent examples. however, for physical chem he was horrible all he did was provide very specific examples so if the questions were not like the examples you were completely lost.

Baldwin knows his stuff but would rather be elsewhere then teaching students. He teaches fairly clear though. Asking him questions is a problem. Inside of class he can be helpful, sometimes a little mean spirited, outside of class is "Baldwin Time" so don't try to get help from him then (try Gauvin).

Baldwin is an amazing teacher! He dumbs down everything so it is really easy to understand...but you have to do the work (questions and readings). His notes only contain the important information. He makes chemistry fun and I would definately recommend him to anyone interested in taking this course.

VERY THOROUGH, however spent too much time focusing on certain topics to even begin teaching the last unit of what was going to be on the exam. That's right; we missed the WHOLE UNIT. As a general notice, not specific to this teacher, beware of the practise exams; this year, the material was completely different, for the first time in many years.

Awesome prof! makes the lectures really interesting becuase he has an overall excited attitude towards it! i really enjoyed chemistry in high school and i like even more now. the online notes are amazing, such a good idea becuase you can listen to him during the lectures instead of have to write pages of notes. i find him really clear and helpfull!

One of the best professors around. Clear, concise and has tons of experience. The weekly in-class test do get to you sometimes but they're a good way of grading yourself. Highly recommended.

One of the only first year profs that genuinely cared how the students were going to do on the exam. Does TONS of example questions in class, until it seems like EVERYONE gets it. Seems nice enough.

I don't know what these nerds are talking about. Baldwin sucks! He goes through everything way too fast and tries to make simple things complicated. Also, he has no compassion. I was one day late on an assignment due to a funeral and he gave me zero on it.That lowered my "A" to a B+. Don't waste your time in his class, just study the text hard!

I totally agree. With his class, if you combine his notes, his teachings, and textbook readings, his class will seem great. Only procrastinators, lazy students, and those who still dont understand that they're now PAYING for school will give this guy a bad rating. Time to grow up and face reality

Okay, this class is a repeat of high school. If you do bad, it is your own fault. He explains things in more depth to aid with understanding. Notes are amazing...waaay better than the textbook. Knows his stuff and explains everything perfectly. Stupid kids who don't know chemistry...pfft!!!

Makes chemistry interesting. Also has great enthusiasm while teaching which in a course like this, helps out a lot. Online notes are VERY helpful and overall he seems like a nice guy. (Though I've never talked to/met him, one-on-one.)

I can see how people would think he's rude and condescending. I have to give him credit though, because I despised chemistry until this class. The online notes and powerpoint presentations are very great. Easy to fall asleep though.
