Comment:
This class is an Introduction to Computer Networks which does not include any practicals or physical lab work. Neither do the exams also include any such thing. All the exams are math-based and he gets irritated when he explains and you don't understand and you ask him to explain again. He knows the material though. But he reads from the ppt slides

Very generous and overall nice professor. The big downside is that he reads off the ppt which bores the class to death. It is best that you read the textbook (excellent book) and do the homeworks and labs.

The subject itself is difficult, not so much the professor. Exams are tough, but professor is a lenient grader. Wireshark labs are the easiest assignments. Java router project is also very difficult even if you know Java. Professor explains subject matter very clearly and in depth, but should focus on the math part more. Do all work and you'll pass

The exams are all math-based and based on homework and in-class lecture examples. Learn the homework problems, you are good for the exam mostly. One of the best classes I've ever taken, honestly. Very organized, very knowledgeable. Don't be put off by his age, he is a very sharp guy and knows internet inside and out.

He is a very thoughtful, well organized lecturer. Don't let his age fool you, he knows the internet inside and out. The math is basic but the exams are all about the math. He is generous with partial credit on exams, so make an effort. It was an excellent class, I highly recommend him.I look forward to taking his Java class before he retires.

Folks i have admit that Prof. Blank is very knowledgeable and fair grader. Very soon he will be retiring and i would suggest all students that are looking to improve their GPA to take this class with Prof. Blank. You will regret it, if you don't ! Do homeworks, labs and router project and you will be on track.

Invest a lot of effort. Gotta read the book(I read it), do wireshark assignments(they're online), virtual router project(learned multi-threading, concurrency, deadlock and networking in java), and tests need a good understanding but become easy if you work super hard. Got a 96 on the final without studying. Very challenging and worth the time.

Talks all class, giving no examples on whats on the tests. You have to basically read the chapters twice to get a full understanding what will be on test.

This dude does nothign but talk of some ATT experience that he had. I have worked in a professional environment more than 4 years and being a developer I do not see a reason why every person needs to prepare usecases and yada yada, i am not BA. Please need more space to comment !!!

Very difficult class and extremely rough grading. Half the class drops. Avg. weekly course load: read a ch. and Wireshark Lab and/or hw from book and/or project. Don't get behind, you will not catch up. Helpful in office hrs if you attempt the work a bit. Grade is relative to the rest of class. He tries to be "job-oriented" so he may help ntwk ppl.

Limited hours of availability! Half the class drops by drop deadline and rest are struggling to pass the course. Too much learning load at the end of the semester. I don't know of anyone who completely finished program assignment... That shows difficulty level.

Course is super hard and I did super bad. I took it as elective by mistake. It says intro but much harder. Professor is experienced, smart, but very particular about homework. Take night class with him but be available in daytime to get help from him.

Blank is a seasoned software veteran & has a great deal of practical knowledge on the realities of development. This is not Java 101-it is more focused on using Java to develop applications and learn OO design patterns pros use. You must read the book and work through each chapter assignment. Like in real life, only top % of students get an A.

Grading is not fair. Only a predetermined number of students can achieve an A. You can do everything 100% correct and not get an A because the guy next to you went over and beyond what was called for. How is this fair?!? If I do extra work, how do I know that I did enough to score better than the next guy. This is NOTa contest. Grade me on MY work!

The professor doesn't really know much about the subject matter. All he does is talk about his experience at ATT. Although this is a graduate class, he should at least provide some directions. I can say that he doesn't have much experience with java. He talks about project management and system analysis and design because thats only thing he kn

With Professor Blank, you simply need to know how to study. He always will go over all testable material before a test. Make a list of those things and make yourself a study guide. Buy the book and read the chapters BEFORE class. Prof Blank is interested and very knowledgeable in the subject. Visit his office during ours for help. Don't complain.
