Comment:

He's nice and truly cares about his students but a TOUGH marker. There is a weekly seminar too with lots of readings required (you'll be confused without it) and a response due every 1 or 2 weeks on top of the massive final essay. Get ready to read, write and DON'T SKIP LECTURES... exam structure isn't too bad, study for it though!

Unreasonable and unfair marker. Will tell you what he wants but the way he actually facilitates his marking scheme gives the image he is trying to be unreasonable to his students - particularly in essay marking.

Dr. Warecki is great! His expectations are high, but he very clearly outlines his assignments (if you do something wrong, that's your fault not his). You're required to make appointments with him about assignments, but his advice is always very helpful. He made Canadian history genuinely interesting for me. You have to work hard, but it's worth it!

He is very clear about how he marks and is a very fair marker. Saying this I hated his class because of how much emphasis is on participation. If you don't like speaking in class than this is a horrible class. I will never take him again.

Amazing professor, tough but fair, will give you as much time as you need one on one including helping with essays, finding research etc. When you get a good mark in his class, you DESERVE it. He has improved my writing so much. I have taken all of his classes and struggled at first but I have improved so much as a student and writer. AMAZING.

Outstanding professor! Won the Brescia Excellence in Teaching Award for 08-09... well deserved too. Excellent lectures, crystal clear guidelines, generous one-on-one time if requested. I took all of his HIS courses... you can learn a lot from this man. He is engaged, interested and inspiring.

Awesome professor! Very approachable, intelligent, good sense of humour. Passionate about teaching. Yes, he gets a little upset when grades are low, but that's because he wants you to learn! I've never had a professor make me feel so competent before--he tells you what your strengths are. He instilled in me a desire to learn history-take his class!

Great orator, always prepared, easy to follow lectures, provides audiovisual material, small classes (always below 50). Very clear with his expectations... don't stray from these! Always available for extra help. Teaches Cdn history at Brescia. (specializes in environmental and social) I've had him for 2 years, now for 3rd year. I love him!

The material in this class is very dry. He makes you think he is cool, but he's very arrogant Freaked out when our exam averages were in the 60's! Entire class did poorly, according to the marks he posted. Only one person got above 90. Avoid him.

I felt like I was in high school again. Even though I’m doing well in the class, it’s been quite possibly the worst course I’ve ever taken. I hate all the class discussion. We shouldn't be paying tuition to hear one obligatory asinine comment from each student!
