Comment:

Dr. H makes the material interesting and applicable. You need to be present for lectures and labs otherwise you would likely get lost with the material. That being said, preparing for her tests is straightforward. As long as you follow the study guide you will do fine.

Dr. Hammond is a good professor. She literally gives you study guides for EXACTLY what is on her tests. If you study those you are guaranteed to make an A. If you write more than the basic answers on your test she gives you extra credit and the final is optional. Just go to class, put in a bit of genuine effort, and visit her office hours to talk

Don't ask questions. She will literally make you feel even more stupid than you already feel about the material she teaches terribly. All of her tests are short answer and she plays favorites, so go to office hours and suck up like you never have before. She also loves starbucks. Does drop a test grade and the final is optional. So theres that.

This course was without a doubt the most difficult I've had I college. Questions? Don't, unless you want to be embarrassed & disrespected in front of the class. Grading criteria isn't clear and you will be rushed to finish the syllabus at the end of the semester. Although she drops one test and the final is optional, you're lucky to pass with a C.

She does not like to be asked questions and is very condescending when you do. Although, she does drop your lowest test grade and the final is optional so I reccomend her over the other option. Just regurgitate exactly what she says back to you or you'll get points off on the test.

She is not truthful about her grading scale. She makes tests harder than she says she is going to, and goes against everything that says. She is disrespectful and rude when teachers ask questions, and is not willing to help. She is the worts teacher that I have ever had.

She doesn't like to answer your questions. She is very sarcastic and doesn't talk to you in a respectable manner. All of your test are going to be short answer. She takes off points on your test if you don't give the exact response she would say. You can't go to her office hours because she is always busy with other biology students. Very rude

Do not take this professor. She will get an attitude with you when you ask a question and will be blatantly rude to you in front of class. Her tests are ridiculous and are 95% short answer and essay. Please dont make the mistake I did Shes awful She never uses the textbook she made mandatory her lectures are 3 hours long Tue&Thurs and all she talks about are her cats and her son working at Trader Joes Her exams come straight from her ass. Dr. Hammond is such a sweet lady,outside of the classroom. You won't pass her tests unless you have a lot of bio/chem knowledge from previous courses. Her study guides are nothing like the actual tests. However I've heard she is the lesser of two evils (being the other micro teacher at RU). Lucky if you get a C,just a miserable class all together.

Exam q's are fill in the blanks, matching and short essays. Her grading is very subjective on short essays. The study guides she posts are helpful for the finals. Dismissive and condescending if you ask for help. Snaps easily. Gossips about other students, faculty members and her sister!! TUnprofessional emails. Never sticks to syllabus. SKIP HER!!

She is constantly late, even on the day of the final exam(!), fails to follow her syllabus schedule and rushes to finish the syllabus on the very last days of the semester. Offers to help but condescending should anyone ask for help. Average grade is a C, and she expects you to be thrilled about it. B is an exceptional grade in her book.

She is an awesome teacher!! Of course the material isn't easy for microbiology. But she is ALWAYS willing to help. She is spunky and sometimes comes off strong and almost condescending but that is just her personality. If you show up to class, listen, take notes, and study, her tests will be easy to you. And NO LAB PRACTICALS!

Comment:

Dr. Hammond is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. As long as you come to class and take good notes you will be fine. It is definitely a hard class but she is always willing to help. Labs are fun and there are no practicals. Tests are hard and require a lot of studying but aren't impossible. I highly recommend her.

Everything on the tests is explicitly stated in her notes and lecture. If you don't come to class you probably will not do well, and there is a lot of material to learn. Need to dedicate a few 5-10 hours of solid studying for the tests. She manages to teach in detail about a large number of topics over the semester.

She comes off as a kind person, she is passionate about biology but expects you to know everything that she's talking about immediately. Can snap at you and be rude, her tests are almost impossible due to the fact that her study guides don't cover the material. A lot of essay questions on the tests that are very difficult. Don't recommend her.
