Gerry is an amazing conductor, full of real life knowledge and experience and he is always willing to help you out. He is tough, as he should be, always pushing you to be the best you can be, and more. I think he is a true master of his profession and any student would benefit by being a sponge - take in as much as you can! Gerry you rock!

Comment:

Prof. King is a spectacular teacher, and is an extremely caring and helpful professor. Students don't generally take the time to speak with him outside of rehearsal, and so don't usually get to see this side of him. He is fun to talk with, and treats everyone with the same respect he receives from them, which is all I would ever ask from someone.

Gerry is extremely good at his job, but the arrogance he uses to overcome his shyness can get to you. He shows no mercy and is a perfectionist. Even as a dedicated, nerdy straight A student I still have issues with his approach, occasionally quietly cursing him, but you have no choice if you want the credit. And he's good.

Gerry works his butt off for this school and i dont think he gets the respect he deserves. Ya he can be blunt or come off as insensitive but get over it. I learn something at every rehearsal and as long as you work hard for him you will be fine.

We are in university, and gerry is just like any other prof. you have a lot to learn and he has a lot to teach. he is smart and thoughtful and even though his conducting is a little hazy it is still a hellofa lot better then many of thoes professional conductors. take what you can from him and move on, he is not going to wipe youre but for you.

Has a presence that can sometimes come across as being egocentric, but Gerry's more certain of what he wants the ensemble to do and is sure he can accomplish it. He has high expectations, but come on! We're in university! A sensitive and musical conductor, Gerry has a lot to teach all of us, even if you're not always open to learning it.

Gerry is an egotistical, self-centered, jerk. He tries to compensate for his inadequacies by being a power-tripper. He lives in a bubble. I am not sure what things look like to him inside that bubble, but to those outside the bubble, he looks pretty ridiculous.

I don't care what how much education or qualifications someone has. If Gerry had 10 Phd's, that would still not entitle him to treat people as he does. No amount of education removes your obligation to treat people with respect and dignity. I'm not sure what happened to you to make you think it's ok to behave like you do, Gerry, but grow up.
