Comment:

Brilliant man. All the poor comments associated with him stem from lack of understanding of what Gerhard was trying to accomplish with his teaching. He taught not only the knowledge of the academic subject but also how to wield it to enrich the world. Don't be a sheep. He didn't teach how to be a wolf either. He taught you how to be the shepherd.

I dont't know why everyone is ripping on Brauer! He is a beauty guy and teaches students material that goes beyond the classroom. He is very fair, however, he can be unclear as to what will be tested.

I thought I was taking an ethics course. I remember more about his life stories then the material taught. He preached about looking further and questioning things, yet his tests/quizzes were contradicting of that. He copped out on the Exam, compiling it with the 3 former tests. So just memorize those and you'll be fine.

I loved the guy thought it was an extremely refreshing class with interesting ideas and definite room for discussion and free thought. If you actually listen to him and generate your own opinions you'll get alot out of this class, crystal clear what was being tested short of giving you the actual test ahead of time he couldnt have given more info

Just because a professor jokes about beer and sausages, doesn't mean he's good. This class was the most ridiculous waste of time and money. He essentially talked off the top of his head for the entire class, making only slight reference to the text and testable material.I have no pages of notes, just portraits I drew of him to keep myself occupied

Brauer is the type of professor who grows on you after a while.. He's funny and engaging in class. His tests are not organized and he's often unclear about what's covered on the tests, however - which is why I'm not looking forward to seeing more of him in future HINF classes..

He teaches you critical thinking... 1st years don't get it... they just get offended and think he's crazy... but he's probably one of the best teachers ever - because he actually makes u THINK and question everything...

He is funny but embarasses you in the class because he points out "any one" and says "YOU!!" and ask questions. He is easy marker but you have to remember what he says in the class. What I remember from his class is German, beer, sausage, and stupid i muffin(ipod- i don know why he is calling like that)

I adore GB. His teaching is unconventional and that's the point. Most people in first year expect to be taught, and he wants people to think right off the bat. He is a real person and I am glad to have his class in my pocket.

Brauer makes you think. He does not want students to regurgitate facts from the textbook and gears his classes as such. He has a lot of interesting stories which help reinforce points, but has gone off on a few tangents. Gerhard is the type of prof you either love or hate, with very little middle ground. I would take another class with him.
