Worst professor I've ever had, assignments due day before quizzes, you never got feedback before quizzed. The structure of lectures are terrible, skip material around. Text book and slides are not useful.

Professor Dueck is one of my favourite professors. Participation is a must in his classes. He strongly encourages students to come to an answer themselves, rather than just giving the answer. I've learned a lot from this method of teaching. He explains concepts clearly and is also a funny guy. He's approachable and answers emails.

Gerhard Dueck did a great job teaching CS1023. He makes you, the students, write the code in class by asking you "what would you do next" in a sequential order from front to back or vice versa. This helps you stay on board with the concepts. The assignments and labs can be excruciating, but the final was straightforward. No textbook needed.

Class is pretty much useless, except everyday he said ONE thing that made it worth being there. The exam wasn't too bad, I was expecting worse. He cracked me up sometimes, his jokes weren't that bad.... good material, poor delivery.

If you read the date you will find his rank was high at the beginning of the term then goes down. His exam covers everything on the book but his assignments and lectures are not and they are not helpful to your exams. Be carful and good luck! @_@
