Comment:
Dr. Schaus is by far the best prof I had at laurier. He retired this year and I was so sad that future students won't get to experience his awesome, hilarious, and super informative lectures. He cares if you care, people put no effort and say he's unfair when they fail. He got the graduating class a cake and will be missed. Schaus is the best

Dr. Schaus is one of the sweetest professors at WLU. He may be intimidating because he is so well known and has been there for so long but he is always willing to help if you send him an email or knock on his door. He always has interesting personal stories and enjoys sharing these with the class.

Dr. Schaus is a very knowledgable professor who will give interesting lectures but if you don't attend or read the textbook you have no hope of passing. BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Do not expect sympathy

I enjoyed his class. He is very personable and does not mind sharing his personal likes and dislikes. He also has some humorous stories that he shares with the class. He is willing to go above and beyond to help you. He can be very dry in presenting the material and is not very tech savvy. Do not expect a prompt response to any of your e-mails.

midterm was just stupid, I did all the readings twice, and made decent notes but the test had nothing to do with any of it. But is a nice guy and funny, but seems to not care that much about students.. I think it is hit or miss if you like him or not.

My best prof during my BA bar-none. I really enjoyed his classes, and came away from all of them feeling like I actually learned something new. He challenges his students to succeed, and the mark he gives is the mark you deserve. This class especially was fun and interesting, but all of his classes are likewise. A great prof!

What a boring professor. His class on Greece was terrible, and I think without tenure he should have left a long time ago. I would never take another class with him.

He is a very funny man. Has tons of stories about his digs and trips to Rome and Greece. His lectures are decent. Has a lot of material and uses a lot of pictures, but write down everything he says about them and you will do well. He does seem tought, but lets say his bark is bigger then his bite. Easy marker too... over all excellent classics prof

I will never get over the stories....they were so random and funny, and somehow totally relevant to ancient Greek history, as though he were living it: meeting Pan, getting **** at a rural festival, thinking he was in Simon's Shoe Shop...we even acted out some Lysistrata, and he brought props for it. And he teaches well too...exams straighforward.

Great guy, very funny! His lectures are pretty random, but his stories are great! Wasn't very clear about the inclass essay, so be sure to get him to explain it!
