Yes, the class is easy and I learned something new in this class. However, I felt the materials isn't very interesting. The professor lectures are him reading his power points which outline the materials in his book. For such a high level class, the materials is not very enlightening.

I was a bit disappointed with this class. I did not feel challenged, nor did I feel like I learned as much as I could have. There's a few short "pop quizzes", one mandatory discussion post (with 5 responses), a midterm, and a final. No essays, except for extra credit. I probably won't take Dr. Herdt again. The material was interesting, though.

Dr. Herdt and TA Melinda Cordasco worked together to create a great class. There's few quizzes, a midterm, and a final. All not hard, based on PowerPoint lectures. The great thing about this class was the forum posting. You have to post 5 forums, but you get to interact with your fellow students and it's a great way to see different points of view

Awesome professor. Makes the 3 hour night class go by as fast as possible. Would take again! Light workload and straight forward teaching.

Read and pay attention in the lectures and you'll pass this class easily. 2 pop quizzes, 1 midterm (all which I got 100% on), and three short essays due at the end of the semester. If you're not already interested in the topic you may find it boring, but I really enjoyed it and Herdt is a very smart and easy going guy.

Really friendly professor. Iclicker mandatory for tests/attendance. Grades based on attendance, midterm, two POP quizzes (easy if you read or payed attention to lecture), and 3 papers (due end of semester)! The tests were easy and you have the whole semester to write the essays...

He is a great professor and knows what he's talking about. He lectures from memory and it is easy to pass the class as long as you attend regularly. One of my favorite professors. It's nice to learn from someone with experience.

It's awesome to have a professor who has worked in his field. In this class we learn about kinds of sexuality across different cultures. This class was very interesting and mind opening. There were 3 short quizzes, midterm, and 3 papers. He's a very fair grader. An iClicker is required for this class for attendance and for quizzes/tests in class.

It's amazing to have a professor that has worked in the field of what he teaches. Professor Herdt is very laidback and makes the 3 hour night lecture interesting. You will definitely take a lot away from this class and it really opens your mind to different cultures. There are 3 quizzes, papers, and one final exam. Attendance is mandatory, iClicker

You will learn something, but the material is not useful to begin with. Three pop quizzes, 1 midterm, 3 essays. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. Some questions on the quizzes are absolutely ridiculous (too closely related). I have a 3.55 GPA and got a B-, so judge for yourself.

He's a gentle man. I think he's getting outdated with his methods though, not all lectures are power point (he'll sometimes just stand and talk). However the information was interesting and he enjoyed discussing it. He is an expert in this field without a doubt

This class was easy to pass and interesting. Two five page papers and there was plenty of review before the final iclicker test. There are a couple pop quizzes, and Herdt is open to suggestions. He listened to the soft voice complaints and got a microphone. The reading was interesting. I would take this class again!

I'm surprised by the previous comments because I found Herdt to be a very interesting lecturer as well as a kind and reasonable human being. The material was interesting and discussions engaging. The class wasn't incredibly difficult, but reading is necessary. I would take a class with Herdt again in a heartbeat.

His lectures are boring, he's boring, half the time the class has no idea what the point he's trying to make is, soft voice so we can barely hear what he's saying, terrible speaker (sounds like he's high as a kite), you only have ONE 20 question midterm and they DO NOT review the material before hand & four 2.5 page papers. Herdt = Death

Pretentious, boring, dry. Has a throng of T.A.s this semester whom he is rude to and they are still googly-eyed. I do not recommend taking him (or them) ever.

****, ****, and can't see beyond his own face. His reserach is flawed, his demeanor rude, and if you don't agree with him, be prepared for a dirty fight. Too bad you can't avoid him if you are in the MA program.

Very intellegent and dedicated to his work. Very focused on HIS work. Skilled orator, but leaves you wanting a bit more out of it. Not necessarily traits i'd want in the program director
