The class wasn't easy. But professor Penrod is very understanding teacher. There are quizzes everyday, but they are only 11 questions and are super easy. She goes over the quiz before we take the quiz so you'll be fine. And she drops your lowest exam grade(if the final exam grade is better) and 3 quizzes & lab reports. So she's very lenient.

You HAVE to work for your grade, but she provides so many resources to help AND she'll work with you to understand coursework. Labs are fun and informational, and lecture is good. Always try to show up to lecture/lab: there's a quiz in lecture over previous lab and if you aren't there for lab you don't get credit (she drops 3 quiz and lab grades)

I genuinely enjoyed her class. She has 4 test with around 70 multiple choice and 2 free response. All her test are straight from lecture so make sure to pay attention. Plus she has study mates online that really do help . The labs are easy and fun and her final has 160 questions. All you have to do is pay attention and study and you'll do fine.

I took her for 1406 & 1408 and she's super nice. her lectures are a bit long but they're very interesting. there are 2 parts multiple choice which consist of 70-80 questions along with short answer. she tells you what's going to be on the short answer so don't freak out and there's bonus questions. her lab quizzes is literally the lab report

One of the best professors I've ever had. Very organized, very caring, very smart. Do your job and you'll be great. Really, no matter how dumb you think you are, you'll understand her lectures. It was a heavy summer class, but definitely worth it.

This is one of my favorite classes I have taken. The tests come from her lecture outlines and the lab practicals are not too difficult as long as you study the CD included in the lab manual. She offers up to 3 points of extra credit towards your final grade with the unit scavenger hunts. I was able to make close to a 100 thanks to the extra credit.

A very easy and caring professor! You can tell she is passionate about what she teaches and will gladly help you if you have any questions. She is lenient grader on lab reports. Make sure you study for lab practicals and the tests, it'll be hard to pass if you wing it. As long as you study and ask her for help, this class should an easy(ish) A

Study for lab practical and lecture exams together! I got all A's in lab practical and tests, I only got 1 B on the first test. Go to class because she gives you some short answer questions she will ask on the exam. 85 multiple choice, 15 fill in the blank, and 5 bonus questions!

I took Penrod for BIOL 1406 and 1407 both with labs during the summer. We spent almost every day of the summer together, and it was great. She is a very caring teacher and will work with you through almost anything. She wants you to get an A and gives a lot of extra credit. She is a little unorganized, but she is funny and very knowledgeable.

Ver y clear on her expectations and assignment goals. PowerPoints were fun, relevant to how students view things, and educational. She often told the class a short story of how biology topics applied to life. No homework, study the power points and specific handouts she mentions during class and you'll do great on tests. Textbook is not necessary.

Just study and you can make A. MasteringMyBiology is very helpful, and you should take advantage of it to learn. Note that you have quite a lot of knowledge to cover, but it's normal to biology, isn't it? Prof. Penrod is very good and patient. If there is anything makes you confused, don't hesitate to ask her, either face-to-face or email.

She's really is a good Professor and she is always clear with everything. But we do a lot of quizzes, and exams are difficult if you don't study. Overall if you do all your work and do well on the exams, you'll be fine.

She wants everyone to pass. You need to put in the effort otherwise you'll fail. She offers extra credit as well! Take her!

This bio class was tougher than 1406 to me. Penrod is an amazing professor. She wants everyone to get an A, but will not just give an A. Download the PowerPoints, take notes, and study. It's a lot of information.
