3500 was operated on a two test, final research paper form. This left 80% of the grade not received even into final exam period. Totally brutal. His final exam is structured around an essay and short answers, where he expects citations for the in exam essay. Terrible class.

I have never rated a prof before but I had to warn people about Gilles. He has no interest in education at all and will make you work super hard for an average grade. His lectures are dry, his accent is thick, and his tests don't so much probe for knowledge as they do for regurgitation of his ridiculously obscure concepts. Worst course I've taken.

Great professor in my opinion! He was very approachable and friendly. His lectures were interesting for the most part but there were times when one topic would get dragged on a bit too long. Midterm was challenging but the final exam felt just right. He gives clear instructions on what to focus on for studying. Feels like he wants you to succeed!

A nice man but he thinks the world revolves around Geographers. Take this course if you want to reduce your GPA. Our group consisted of 3 staight "A" students and we all received a "C".The classes are very boring and if you question one of his theories, he will smile and agree but you just screwed yourself. Half the class failed the mid-term.

His accent can make him hard to understand buthe really tries to speak well. Not such a hard course, talks allot, only had 3 hrs a week. Know your details for assignments and quizzes. Is very helpful. Dont really have to take notes because he gives a handout for almost every presentation.
