Carleen is an amazing professor. She is so understanding and helps you out alot. She even goes out of her way to give you advice on papers to help you improve your writing. There are no tests, but 3 papers. and one final research paper and a written final. Class is easy and once shes done discussing what she had to say, you get to leave. Loved her

Carleen is a very nice lady. However, she is unhelpful. She didnt even correct our papers and didnt have justice for the grade. All you have is 3 essays. I wrote about 1 page of notes the whole semester. Didnt purchase the book. No tests. Take her only if you like talking about your life. Then you get a A. Be the teacher pet= A+.

Wow...I can't believe what the others have said about Carleen. She is the most genuine and caring teacher...probably my favorite teacher I've had in the whole 3 years of going to CSUF. It's true, she does miss some classes but she has a valid excuse(she had brain surgery). I would highly recommend taking her for as many classes as possible.

Her class is interesting b/c she is always talking about her life. If you want a good grade in class, just talk in class about your life too. She doesn't go by the syllabus, is usually unorganized. Although she is a sweet person, and seem helpful, don't rely on getting a response/feedback from her.

While Carleen was very informative and passionate about her subject matter, that was overshadowed by her excessive absences and disorganization! I kept track of my scores and should have received an A in her class, yet somehow received a C. I e-mailed Carleen and she admitted error and promised to change the grade. After 6 months of constant e-mails I am still stuck with the C. What a horrible injustice to a hard-working student!!! Just take a leave of absence if you aren't interested in your classes!

As a recent graduate, I can honestly say that I have never had a better professor than Carleen. We worked our fannies off in her class but came away with so much for our efforts. She made the topic of censorship so interesting that I find myself keeping up with it just for fun.
