Comment:

She scares me, especially when she randomly calls on you. She expects everyone to participate a lottttt. Other than that this is an easy A. Even after it goes online it requires minimal effort, there isnt even a final. I wouldnt say its an interesting class but Ginni is cool and its bearable

You get introduced to the media world and how news values can impact audience. Jurkowski can be a tough grader, but she wants you to get the best out of the class. The class goes online after 5 weeks, but don't get intimated by the week's assignments. If you put in the work, and submit it on time, you'll be fine.

Comment:

COMM 107 is actually the biggest joke of a class given at Geneseo. It's an easy A but you won't learn or get ANYTHING out of it. If you value the idea of getting a good education, there's no reason to take this class. Getting a high grade isn't great if you hardly did anything to earn it. Professor Jurkowski, however, is responsive and nice.

Ginni is a super helpful professor. I've taken 2 of her classes. Half of her classes are online which is nice. Although her lecture portion can be intimidating. Prepare to be called on because she tends to do that. She is pretty straight froward and always is available to answer any questions. She really cares about her students' education.

I think Professor Jurkowski is great, but I hate the "hybrid" half online format. It just didn't feel like I was getting much out of the class during the 2nd half. Material was pretty interesting, but I just wanted more. The grading policy, although clear from the start, also requires constant attention.

Extremely intelligent and cares about her students... but be prepared for A LOT of busy work, especially when the class goes online for the second half of the semester. She's also super picky with grades, which can be annoying.

Jurkowski's class is unnecessary difficult and incompatible. Don't take it if you're a PC person - half the assignments REQUIRE you to own and be familiar with a Mac. You'll have to go out of your way and do annoying unnecessary things for assignments. Also, about half the class is online and you get a sense that she doesn't want to teach.

I love Ginni! Take any of her classes. She truly wants you to learn and a lot of what she teaches you will help you outside of class. She does assign a lot of "busy" work but if you do it you will get an A

This class turns into an online class after a month. Ginni is very helpful and great at teaching time management. It's easy and you'll be forced to learn about how you can apply skills on the job, even if you're not interested in communications as a career.

You will definitely learn a lot from the first half of this course. The online portion is significantly less effective. she a good teacher, and the assignments aren't too difficult, however she is extremely nit picky on the grading. be prepared to lose tons of credit on each assignment if its not perfect.

Could have taken this in middle school, so easy. No quizzes or tests, just a lot of busy work. You need to go to class and she has a habit of randomly calling on people, but it's not challenging by any means. She's very clear with directions and super helpful. Definitely take it, even if it's just for a GPA booster

107 is so easy, I could have taken it as a high school freshman, but it was fine by me. You should show up to class because you need to turn in homework & there's a bunch of busy work that she grades. There are no quizzes or tests which rocks, so your notes are there only to make sure you can get homework formatting right. Easy A.

She's awesome, I really enjoy this class. Then again, I consider myself an excellent public speaker, and some kids really stink it up in this class, but I feel she's a very lenient grader. Very clear lectures, not overpowering, very easy to follow. You earn points little by little, I'm just not a fan of the team speech as I prefer to speak alone.

Comment:

Jurkowski is not a teacher who grades you by numbers. She grades by feelings. If she feels that you are not doing well in the class, then she will suggest that you withdraw from the class.She is a good teacher and some of the requirements for speeches seemed tedious. I suggest that you take a teacher who grades on numbers and not her own judgements
